My DS didn't look like his dad in the face, but he had the exact same congenital condition of the hands that made him look exactly like his Dad. I think your MIL is talking out of her bum LOL, but I have seen a few newborns that are like little 'mini me's' of their fathers.

Apparently both my girls were "dead ringers" for DP when they were born according to MIL - depite the fact that they looked completely different! DD1 didn't really look like either of us at birth but probably more like DP than me, although they now both look more like me! DD2 (I think) looked just like me as a baby but everyone thought she was the image of DP - it's very subjective and people will always find characteristics of whichever parent they are looking for in a child.

My DS looks a lot like his dad. But his skin is more like mine.

My oldest is the spitting image of my brother, except DS1 has red hair, lol.

i think there is some primal reason for babies looking much like their fathers in the first few weeks.
Yeah, I've heard that thrown about too, and it kinda makes sense...

FWIW DS looked like DH and for the first few months, then he became more like me, but now at 18 months he is the spitting image of DH. So I guess it keeps changing as they develop.

I dont think DS looked like either of us at birth/first few weeks. Depends on who you speak to now whether he looks like me or DH. I see DH more than me in DS, but DS pulls some faces and he looks like DH's father.

A friend of the family has a 2yo daughter, and she's the spitting image of her father's father! Makes me wonder how the mother can tell the father - to his face - that the little girl isn't his, when clearly there's a family resemblance. But lets not go there right now

DS1 is the spitting image of his father. We have a pic of my DH in our hall as a child, and EVERYONE thinks it is one of DS1.

My 1st DS was and still is a dead ringer for his dad even the baby photos of both of them are identical.
My 2nd DS looked more like me although now he looks like his dad but with my skin and nose.
And DS 3 is a spitting image of DS1 so just like his dad but all 3 of my boys have my families wonky 2nd toe you could even see it on u/s the 2nd toe is bigger than the first by a good 1-2cm even my daughter i lost at 20 weeks to my new DH she had the toes aswell it was even mentioned in the autopsy report as an abnormality lol little did they know it is all through my family.
I wonder what this little miss due in march will look like?

DS looks just like his dad lol, at least according to me and hubby's side of the family, my side of the family keep saying that DS looks like one of my cousins which is impossible because my cousin looks COMPLETELY different (must the the blonde-haired blue-eyed thing that the males in my family seem to be carrying on lol my brother is only dark haired-dark skinned male in the family - the rest are mostly white, freckle and don't tan though there are a few brunette's in the mix - and that's only because he inherited it from our mum), but in saying that the only thing I have in common with my dad is that I'm short, overweight, freckle (though I also tan too, thanks mum!) and have little fingers with a bend in the second knuckle that makes the tips turn inwards (some genetic trait apparently that even DS has inherited... at least 5 generations have had it in my family now, and I'm going to guess that DS will pass it on to the 6th when I become a granny lol).
