    Dips and things...

Is dip and bikkies ok to eat?
I really like corn relish dip (just corn relish and sour cream). I don't see there's any problem with this is there? And then how long can I keep it for? Like if I make it today and keep it in the fridge can I still have some tomorrow?? DH won't help me eat it

I think you would be fine to eat it and keep it till tomorrow. It is things like soft cheese that can be a bit of a no no. When I was pregnant I used to mix taco seasoning and sour cream to eat with toast, i just loooved it .

I lived on hommus and bikkies in my first tri - a great snack with heaps of goodies.

If you made it today, you could eat it tomorrow, but I wouldn't eat it the day after that again - so maybe just make small batches of it instead hehehehe ....

Great for an afternoon snack when you want something that isn't fruit or yoghurt or terribly bad like choccy biscuits (hiding mine under the table as I type )

If you're just using bikkies then you shoud be fine. It's when you start dipping raw vegetables into it that you'd have to throw it out straight after you finish as there is a risk of bugs being transfered from the vegies into the dip.

Thanks guys!!!! I thought it should be ok but then was a bit unsure coz it's something I'm keeping in the fridge cold and most of the time if you keep something you have to heat it up to kill bugs and I'm not really going to heat my dip up!!!!!! lol, so didn't know if there'd be any bugs lurking around. Will stick to the bikkies too, what a good excuse!! lol.

What about salsa? I opened a jar yesterday & tipped it onto my nachos - I was thinking for freezing the rest, but dunno how it'll defrost.

    Sorry to hijack.

hey SJ, at our coles they have sour cream in little tubs (smaller than yoghurt)...that'd be enough for a couple of days without wastage.....

    Left-over? What's that? I don't understand this concept

But seriously Salsa should be the same, you can keep it in the fridge and use it the next day as long as you haven't dipped raw vegies in it. Not sure how well it would freeze though?
