do neural tube defects only happen before 12 weeks

just wondering if neural tube defects only happen before 12 weeks?

if some one was taking meds before pg that can cause NTD then stopped them, could they resume after the 12 weeks?

I think (as a completely non-medically qualified person here!) that the neural tube is closed and fully formed in the first month or two of development.

But I don't know about meds that are known to *cause* neural tube defects.

Best to check with a specialist!!!

I too *think* the neural tube is closed by about 8-10 weeks (or close to) so I wouldn't think the meds would affect bub after this time, but I'd definately have it checked before going back on them!
