Since taking a HPT on Saturday and finding out we're expecting baby # 2 I have been very excited. However, yesterday I went and saw my doctor who did a urine test and said it was a 'weak positive', as I had had stitch like pains on my left hand side most of Sunday he was concerned I may have an ectopic pregnancy so I was sent to get my HCG level tested and told to book an ultrasound ASAP.

I booked in for a scan on Friday and rang him this afternoon to get my test results. He said that while my pregnancy test was positive my HCG level were so low that he didn't expect my pregnancy to progress, that I should expect to miscarry and get my period in the future.

My last period was over 6 weeks ago and while my cycles have been all over the place and varying widely in length he says the levels indicate I would only be around two weeks along and he says that doesn't add up.

At the end of the conversation he said "Don't give up all hope." but he hasn't given me much to cling to
