hi all!!
well, i'm back from my holiday to perth - it was great to just hang out at mum's house and do nothing!! i got more sleep than i have in YEARS!! am happy to be home again, although am getting a bit grumpy at night time having to share my bed with my DH - it's hard enough getting comfy these days without him hogging half of the bed (ok, he only gets about 1/3 of the bed these day, but still..)!!
glad to hear that Angus isn't giving you too much of a hard time relle, and i'm sure your upcoming move will be fantastic for the boys - how nice for them to have a garden to play in!!
Nox - have fun in Lorne (or are you back already?!). i started packing my bags for hospital yesterday. i went to the Breastfeeding Association shop and stocked up on disposable undies, breast pads and some nipple shields.. i also went and bought some maternity pads - didn't know which brand were best so bought a packet of each!! will have to see which i like better and then send my DH out to get more of them for me (he'll love that errand - not!!)...
Kirsten - do cabrini supply disposable or cloth nappies? i'm bringing a whole pile of baby clothes to hospital with me. not because i'm adverse to using hospital ones, but because i've received SO MANY gifts of newborn and 0000 clothes that if she doesn't wear them in hospital i'm afraid that she'll outgrow them before she ever has a chance to wear them!!
we had our hall floorboards polished while i was away and they look FANTASTIC!! and there are carpet men here and the moment putting new carpets down in the formal lounge and dining and in the nursery - i'm SO excited, i can't wait to see the finished product!! i keep walking up and down the hallway peeking in to check on their progress!! i haven't been able to get started on the nursery yet because of the renovations, but i suspect that i'll be up until late tonight making it nice and homely!!
-
Ella: Cabrini supply cloth nappies, which was fine with me - I use cloth anyway. they prefer it so they can see how much wee the baby is doing. You sound very excited and your house sounds brilliant - how exciting for you! She? Ooh a girl...did I miss that somewhere in the thread - I could have I was MIA for ages.
Hi Bogan! You are such a champ with your millions of kids! Bet you can't wait to get some space around you - I will be there dumping Quinn in the cage with your boys :D
Quinn has had an awful cold which he got from his dad and now I have the beginnings of the stupid thing - DAMN COLDS making me miss out on the BEST strawberry shortcake in the WHOLE WORLD!!!! Hard work having a grizzly sick boy, Monday was the worst day but Quinn slept nearly all day, now he is having a hard time getting himself to sleep.
Anyway i need to go eat something - and it's not strawberry shortcake unfortunately!!!! Oh well.
-
Relle - i knew you would manage just fine! Great that Angus is being a good boy for you. Now if you could just get Cooper to sleep in a bit lol!!! I don't know how you get up at that ungodly hour. How fantastic getting a new client, you'll be turning them away soon. I'm sure the weeks will fly by and you'll be in the new place soon. The boys wont know what to do first with all that space.
Ella - good to see you back. Glad you enjoyed the R&R in Perth, good opportunity to do it now. PML about the pads, I bought the biggest, thickest ones I could find and they were brilliant as they cushion your bits! I bought plenty but also changed them all the time so ran out! DH had to do the run to the supermarket and had to ring me while he was there to make sure he had the right ones! Things they do for us!!! I used all my own clothes in hospital too for pretty much the same reason, had lots of things and lots of gifts to use and I am a sucker for cute baby clothes. How exciting with the renos underway, hope you get to start your nursery soon its such a rewarding job putting things away and getting it all set up. Have fun!
Kirsten - poor Quinn (and you!), this year has been rampant for colds. Hope it doesn't hit you too hard. Strawberry shortcake sounds pretty good! Your making me hungry now.
Wonder where Gigi is these days? She went to Noosa ages ago.
-
Hi girls,
Ella - that is great to hear you had a great time in WA. Lap it all up now hun before bubs arrives!!! How exciting about your renos nearly being finished. It will be so exciting for you to set the nursery up! I used the Cloth nappies in hospital too, cause it is much easier to check that bubs is doing all that s/he needs to be doing! lol
Fahncy - ohhhhh I am counting down the days big time to the move. We have actually hired removalists this time ( very luxurious for us! ) as we have NO WHERE to pack and store boxes ( those of y ou that have been to my house know what I mean! lol) The Strawberry shortcake was AWESOME!!! Sorry hun, I will make it for you when you can come! lol I also made Tuna casserole and chicken cacciatore for tomorrow nights tea. ( tonight is lasagna and is already sorted) Suzy homemaker has been hard at work here today.
Mel - YOu are spot on hun, the boys will not know what to do with themselves with all of the space they will have, I can't wait to be able to send them outside when they are getting loud and feral!!
I hope I do get to turning away clients, that would mean that business is going well! Don't forget you girls to let me know of anyone I can help as a DOula. Especially if they are going to Cabrini, Waverley or Jessie Mac!!!! lol I am hoping to get most of my business at Cabrini, so I can build a rapport with all of the midwives as I know half of them already and know they are totally supportive of Doulas.
-
oh, well if cloth nappies are the preferred option in hospital then i guess i'll go along with them too! i might chuck a few disposables in the baby's bag as well (she has lots of spare room in hers because her clothes are SO small!!) just in case i get frustrated with the cloth ones for some reason...
kirsten - yes, i was told that i was having a girl at my 19-week scan. i asked the sonographer how sure she was and she said "about 99%", so i hope she was right... not that the sex matters that much, except that i have a house FULL of pink outfits!!
sorry to hear about the colds that have struck you all down.. i have been VERY lucky and haven't been sick AT ALL this year... well, not a cold or flu - i've had the usual preggi complaints, but even they have been very mild... i hope my luck continues! i know that i'll be absolutely beside myself the first time my baby is sick - i bet i'll want to rush her to hospital with every cough and sniffle!!
Mel - okay, i am one of the biggest culprits for buying the baby outfits (would buy lots online when i was working and get them delivered - he he he!!), but i've ALSO got a lot of gifts, so i'm blaming other people's generosity for the gross surplus!! i had to tell my mum last week to STOP buying me baby clothes!! i thought i would never hear those words from my mouth.. but she buys really lovely (and pricey) outfits, and i was starting to feel too guilty and worry that they would never get worn!!
yes, i thought about the big pads being more comfy (ie. lots of cushioning).. i have kotex, stayfree and libra so will give them all a bash before sending my DH on his way!! i must say, as i stood there studying all of the sanitary ware i saw some Teena undies (like nappies for incontinent women i guess).. i was thinking - they could be very handy for wearning to bed at night the first few nights... but i didn't have enough guts to pick them up and read the packet... i wonder whether they would work for blood as well - i assume that they would because surely the volume of blood that i'll be losing won't be as high as the volume of urine that we output... hhmmmnn, might have to do some research!!
relle - i'm sure that you'll pick up lots of clients in no time!! i have my cabrini antenatal classes starting this sunday and will keep my ears *****ed up for anyone looking for a doula!!
ok, well the carpets are laid and look fantastic!! i'm just about to get started on the nursery - wipe down the skirting boards, window sill, and inside the wardrobe and then get to work setting it all up!! i suspect i will not get to bed until late tonight.. not that it matters at all with my new-found freedom of maternity leave!!
-
Ella: ask if people can get you clothes in size 0, I found I had HEAPS of teeny tiny outfits in 000 and 0000 (which Quinn wore for about a week) and nothing in 0....you get to a point where you actually run out of tiny clothes!! RE: pads (women will talk about anything won't they??) I thought the big cushiony ones were a bit too big and had the opposite effect, the midwives will show you a trick to sitting down with 2 towels that will sort out that problem :) I think when you are pregnant you are immune to everything, you have all of those lovely antibodies flying around that attack anything that comes your way. Lucky you - this cold is nasty!!!
Bogan: Of course the strawberry shortcake waas awesome!! Removalists is VERY fahncy a$%#ed of you. Are you trying to be me? I was remembering the old days when I thought you were a 13 year old boy stalking for pregnant women PML.
Mel: It hasn't really hit me too hard, although I have the scratchy throat and feel VERy tired - more than normal.
-
Hello ladies!
I am just back home from the week away ... wonderful 180 ocean views!!! *sigh*
I wasn't totally comfortable though because for the first time this pg I was totally uncomfortable. Nothing is good -- not lying down, not sitting, not standing .... and I couldn't do any real walking because I had to go to the toilet every 5 seconds! BAH! On top of that, I think that I am actually BIGGER again, if that is at all possible! But it is really wonderful to feel such movements and know that the little one is settling in -- hopefully for a smooth and graceful exit ....
Welcome home to you too Ella! How wonderful to spend time with family!
I am now about 3 weeks away -- hear that, Relle?! hehe Am officially off work, although DH bless him is trying to get me to run a project quickly (!!) and I have been mysteriously enrolled in a number of business seminars. Seems that I am taking a bit of a career change ... interesting ...
OK I am going to go through the whole birth bag thing again to see what I need. So far, I have not included my clothes, just pads! hehe
Plus I haven't got ANY 0000 clothes is that actually a problem? I know that I shold prob get some ... I haven't got heaps of baby clothes because I am superstitious ... so we will see what comes I guess later on ...
Anyway good to be back -- hope the colds and 'flus are clearing up!
-
hi ladies!
just thought i'd better reply to bump our thread up before it was relegated to (gulp) page 2!! can't have that!
tick.. tock.. tick.. tock.. ooh that's nox's baby timer i hear clicking - not long to go now - woo hoo!!
well, 35 weeks today and have just about finished packing my hospital bags i think... have more tops that i can poke a stick at, but no pants to wear!! i have a few pairs of PJ pants and tracky pants that i'll bring in with me, but i'll be wearing them over the next few weeks so will just have to pop them all in the washer and dryer when i go into labour!! have a multitude of pads packed, and some lovely new Hot Milk maternity bras... also have my trusty GHD straightener in there as well, although that's in my "secondary" bag that will live in the boot of the car until i'm settled in - don't want to walk in there armed with too many bags to start with - he he he!!
haven't got much packed in my "labour" bag - can't think of anything that i'll want... have some bathers and some lollies, a PSP for my DH, a CD with some CalmBirth music on and that's about it!! the plan is that i'll only arrive at hospital in time for the business end of the show, so hopefully won't have time to get bored - ha ha ha - hope it all goes to plan!!
i'm feeling very well and spritely of late - i think it's due to my new life as a lady of leisure... i can stop and rest whenever i feel like it, and have been getting more sleep than i ever have in my life before!! i find it hard sharing the bed with DH (he cramps my side-sleeping style), but have been getting plenty of naps in during the day...
the baby is getting very big and strong and my poor skin in stretched terribly, with stretch marks appearing last sat and multiplying since.. was a bit depressed about it for a few days but then i got a message from a friend during the week saying that she had lost her baby (found it had died in utero when she went for her 12-week scan), so that put my stretch-mark sulking into perspective, and now i'm just happy that my little baby is so big and healthy!
hope everyone is doing well and hope to hear some action from Nox soon!!
-
Kirsten - how are you and Quinn going, hopefully over the dreaded flu now.
Nox - wow, time is ticking for you and not long till you meet your little bubba. Any feelings as to whether boy or girl? I was convinced that my second one was a boy, had boy names picked out and was even tempted to buy boys clothes! Got the shock of my life when they said "Its a girl", I had to look for myself just to be sure lol! You might need some 0000 clothes, depending on the size of the baby. Marley was 7lb 10 and she was in 0000 for about 4-6 weeks. Maybe have some on hand JIC.
Ella - how did the nursery go, all set up? I went and bought some new things to wear in the hospital (Sussan has a range called Lounge wear which are so comfy but look nice too), like yoga pants, tops, new undies, pj's etc so I could have my bag packed without having to worry about remembering anything (I am bad with that at the best of times!!!). I am glad I did it as I probably would have birthed Marley at home if I had of hung around packing my bag (but I did strangely find time to put a bit of makeup on and do my hair before we left LOL!). I am a person who puts make up on as a daily ritual and made sure make up bag was the first bag in the car (yes I am crazy!). Great to hear you are getting plenty of rest, its so nice not to worry about work. How sad for your friend and I can see why stretch marks were forgotten after that. Hope she is coping OK.
-
Hi girls!
oohhhhhh Nox and Ella you are both so close now - how exciting!!! I am officially on call now for Nox - so it is THAT close!!!!
I bet you girls are starting to get a bit over it and just wanting to meet your bubbas now.
Ella - I always wore comfy clothes in hospital, I am not really a pj person, and you always had visitors etc, so I reckon the comfy clothes is a goer. It certainly does put all of our aches and pains into perspective doesn't it when you have someone close lose a bub.
Mel - How are you gorgeous? oohhhhh Marley is still such a cutie petite little thing! I still can't believe you put your makeup on at 3 in the morning - while in labour! lol I would not have stood a chance, I really would have birthed on the driveway!
Kirsten - how is the mighty Quinn going?
Ros - how is Alexander going hun? Growing away nicely in mums tum I bet.
Well had better go and get ready to go out for lunch, the 3yo is feral today, so hoping a play will help!

A new member
Hi everyone.
I have been reading this thread for months and it convinced me that once I fall pregnant I will most likely hop on the Dennis Price bandwagon.
This morning I went to the GP and got the confirmation - I am pregnant. I called Dennis' rooms and made an appointment for September.
I have a quick question - and this may seem stupid. I had worked out that I was around 3 weeks into the pregnancy - but the receptionist at Dennis' office said I was 5 weeks. My last period started 16 July. Can anyone offer any advice? And yes she is certainly gruff! Thank god I had read your posts and was prepared for that.
It is all very exciting. Also, what happens from here. If I am 5 weeks already and I don't see Dennis until 10 September - is that getting a bit late? I have no idea what is meant to happen.
Thanks.
-
Yep if your last period was the 16th July then you are 5 weeks. They start counting from your last period not from when you conceive so you are actually 2 weeks pg before you even conceive!
-
Really? No wonder I am getting it wrong. I thought you counted from time of ovulation. I really do have some reading to do!
Thanks
-
Forgot to add - 10th September is normal for your 1st appointment, you see Dennis when you are 8 weeks and he gives you the forms for your u/s and b/t which you have at around 12 weeks. Did the receptionist ask you which hospital you wanted? This needs to be decided asap to make sure that you can get in.
I have also chosen Dennis partly based on the feedback from this site! He is very nice and has a very gentle manner although he seems to laugh at me alot! But then I do say some stupid things when I see him LOL! My DH just looks at me as if I am smoking wacky tabacky or something! Very odd.
My first pg did not go so well and he was very understanding / compassionate and flexible when it came to having the D&C cause I was in a bit of shock that it had all gone wrong and couldn't decide when to have the D&C. He did it on a Saturday for me even though we found out on the Monday that it needed to be done. He just fit in with what was comfortable for me. The great thing also was that this time he let me have a scan at 8 weeks so that if there was something wrong we could do something sooner which made me feel a whole lot better.
I am sure you will like him!
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You will love him!! He's great! He has a very dry sense of humour. I like the 2 weeks pregnant that you get for free too :)
-
Welcome MarknJo AndKatiegirl!
You will love him, he is sucha nice OBS.
I get to see him tomorrow, and best of all i get to see my little boy tomorrow at my scan! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ella and NOx OMG has it gone so quick, how exciting for you girls!!!!
Re what to wear at hospital i am like Relle n ot a PJ person i felt there was no need to wear them. You can get some really nice trackie pants at Peter Alexander, and some funky tops.
I am soooo busy wow it's just boy hectic at my home but i wouldn't have it any other way, tonight i will be kid free cause i have to go to the hairdresser cause my regrowth is a couple of inces!!! ururururgh i have that Madonna look which i want to be gone!!!! So hubby has got them, i already cooked the Roast Chicken and some Vegies, so he is all set, (so organised ain't i) Relle now all about this, when you have 3 kids you can't just whip something up at last minute.
Nothing new from me just that i am so busy and ir eally think we should do a get together!!! Girls, we have to hurry up before our beautiful heavy pregnant ladies have their babies:)
-
Katiegirl - congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to our "I love Dennis" group. Well done on reading this thread before deciding on your OB, should give you a great intro into what Dennis is like. Even better you were pre warned about Linda! Which hospital are you planning on?
Marknjo - congratulations and welcome to you too. Sorry to hear your first pregnancy did not go well. I think we are all guilty of saying/asking stupid things at his office, he has that affect on us lol!!!
Ros - PML about the Madonna look!!!! Sounds like mine at the moment, I go religioulsy every 8 weeks, but couldn't go last Friday. Had to rebook for this Friday, can't wait to get rid of the nasty regrowth! The hairdressers is my luxury, sitting for a few hours reading all the trash mags and drinking copious amounts of coffee!! Have fun tonight, relax and enjoy it. You are so organised with dinner and a roast too, well done. How exciting with your scan tomorrow, make sure you let us know how you go. Would love a get together, I am free usually Monday, Wed and Friday.
-
Thanks - I am very excited to be joining the Dennis Club.
I was asked regarding hospital and I said Cabrini. We are going to do a tour this Wednesday. I have read that Frances Perry has baths which can be of great use during labour. Which do you all think is the better option?
-
Katiegirl - most girls here went to Cabrini and after visiting Relle there, it is beautiful! I am sure they can fill you in more about their experiences. Don't know anyone that has been to Frances Perry so can't help you there. I had both girls at Waverley Private and was really happy there. Good luck with your choice.
-
cabrini has a bath too. It's a great hospital! i don't know if dennis delivers at FP...????
-
Wello hello again lovely ladies and a very big Hello and Welcome to Marknjo and Katiegirl!! Congratulations on joining the "I love Dennis Club!"
My little man is screaming himself silly in bed at the moment as he is soooooo overtired from our out and abouts today, so I had better make it a quick one!
Yep I have to rate Cabrini and say it is fantastic all the way, and yes it does have a bath and no, Dr D does not deliver at FPH. Katiegirl - you will loveeee Cabrini, gorgeous hossie, awesome food and the midwives are all really lovely as well.
ohhhh you girls looks stunning always - not like this frumpy mum over here who hasn't been to the hairdressers in ages!!! It seems no one else is lactating at the moment to feed the 5 week old! lol
I have just put Roast Lamb in the oven, and you are spot on Ros, 3 and more and making dinner at tea time is impossible, beauty of the roast, get it all in the oven cooking and you are 3/4 there. Have an awesome time hun, I am so envious. I HAVE to get my eyebrows waxed before my 6 week check up next week, and my waxer is in Frankston, so I am desperate to get there and have another "tidy up"
Woooohoooooo the "I love Dennis Club!"
-
HA! I haven't been to the hairdressers since November last year!! I WIN!!
-
Hello ladies!
Just thought I had better check in. It has really been a very hectic week.
I am STILL pregnant though. I was so desperate to have this baby over the weekend just gone but obviously it hasn't happened, so now I am over it! haha
My Dad has had surgery and is now fine so that is a load off. He should leave hospital on Wed. He is very relieved of course that I didn't have the baby yet!
It is very funny but for a couple of says or so, I don't 'feel' pregnant. Does that make sense? I can feel the little one frolicking around like a lunatic so I know all is fine, but I don't feel so big and heavy and awkward -- although trust me, I look it!
Hmmm .... what could that mean?
Anyway hope everyone and the new girls are all well. Sent good birthing vibes!
-
The lightening!
I read some stuff about the lightening. Can't remember what it's all about though, I can't remember if i felt it, I did feel really good though the few days before labour. And wonderful while I was in labour!
*sending lovely labour vibes*
-
Ahhh Kirsten you give me hope!!!!!!!!!
That is great. I feel surprisingly good -- although I have had naps over the weekend. I am up all hours doing washing and chasing my cat around the house for stray hairs ...!! Could the end be neigh???????
-
Ha ha ha ha Oh I remember the days!!!
I IRONED the cot sheets, and then complained that I couldn't the the creases out ENOUGH!! I was on the verge of taking the sheets to a dry cleaners to have them steam pressed!!!!! Oh to have that kind of time now!!
-
Hi All,
Well we had our 12 week scan on Thursday last week and all is well. Both DH and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders and now we can really enjoy the pg!
We got what I think is a good score on the NT scan. Dr D said it was a good score so I trust him! The first figure which I think was the scan only or maybe the blood test only was 1:970 and the combined figure was 1:10800 so we are very pleased.
Now all the fun starts with shopping, shopping and more shopping!
-
Whooo hoooo marknjo (am I to assume that you are Jo?) Wonderful news for you both!!! That's a brilliant score, I didn't even end up getting my score. :D I was just excited to see the baby at ultrasound!
-
Hello lovely ladies!!!
Nox - gorgeous, the end is definately nigh - just over the horizon, and you are doing such an awesome, fantastic, wonderful job at carrying bubba around!! You do not look huge at all hun, you look perfect!! And that little bump is just perfect!
So glad to hear that your Dad is recovering well, now you can rest easy knowing that all will be well with your dad when bub does make it's entrance!
I am very excited taking my mobile to bed everynight - waiting for that very important phone call when the time comes!!! lol Nox, you will be pleased to know that my labour bag is all packed ready to go, with a few new additions!!!
Fahncy!! - long time no chat! hahahahaha That little man of yours is getting cuter everytime I see him!! He is welcome here anytime to play with the boys! ohhh the house will be crazy! He can come and play in the cage!! lol
marknjo - Hi huni! Those stats for bub is awesome! very very good! How are you feeling? Are you having many symptoms?
Well girls, the Doula-ing is going very very well - I am starting to book up for the beginning of next year, and am finding myself turning some down which is very sad -, but you all know that if any of you want me at your births that I will be there with bells on!
Now I just have to talk a few more of you into getting UTD again! hahahahaah
Hope everyone else is well. I am in for my 6 week check up with Dr D tomorrow and I am very sad, I can't believe my gorgeous little man is already 6 weeks and that absolutely awesome experience which we call birth was that long ago :( If I didn't already have 3 kids, I swear I would be getting UTD again asap. Oh well it will have to wait a few years, then I might talk DH into 2 more! hahahaha
-
Yes, I am the Jo in marknjo!
Not many symptoms happening for me. I have been a bit nauseous but have not thrown up which is good! I can't have weetbix for brekkie, Spag Bol or steak as they all make me feel horrid! I have been very tired in the afternoon's but I know that is normal! My boobs have been really sore but they seem to have settled down this week so really I count myself very lucky as there are alot of people I have been reading about that are having a terrible time!
I'm still playing sport competitively and will be for hopefully another 5 weeks (if we make the grand final I will be 16 weeks!) and I think this helps being out in the fresh air etc! So in all, I cannot complain!
-
That is such great news marknjo!!!! What a wonderful relief for you both. I am glad that you are also happy with Dr D. I may have missed this in the thread but where are you going for the birth?
-
hi girls!
Typing one handed so sorry for the spelling etc!
I had my 6 week check up yesterday and what an awesome appt it was!! I have actually posted a woohoo for Dr D but will paste it in here too, as I am so stoked!
I am so excited, elated and on top of the world after having my 6 week appt with my OB.
After I fell pregnant with DS3 I began training as a Doula, and early in the pregnancy told my OB about my studies and his intial reaction was " oh yeah"
Well over the course of my pregnancy we spoke more about what a doula does, the benefits etc and that I was having a Doula myself. We also share a couple of clients, the first of which is due and I am really excited about working as a Doula with him as the Ob.
Anyway, today, at my check up he had a med student in with him, and I had the best appt out! Not only did he tell me how great I was looking - I am feeling on top of the world still from Angus' birth and that I was shrinking - yep clothes aren't fitting - too big, but he proceeded to go into detail with the med student why Doulas are so beneficial, such a good option for women and why I make a good Doula!!!
I sat there and listened to my OB tell her that the continuity of care from a Doula, the rapport the Doula builds with her clients, the information a Doula provides and the personal experience a Doula takes to a pregnant woman are extrememly beneficial!!
So I actually got the guts up to give him some business cards, and ask him to give them to any clients he has that is interested in having a Doula!
My OB Rocks!!!
how cool is that!!!! not to mention a few other forward thinking things he is looking into doing!!!
-
Whoo hooooo Bogan!! What a great appointment! Your boys are the gorgeous ones, it's so cute that Cooper 'talks' now they're such good boys! And the cage will make them even better. Angus is the most gorgeous little well behaved man. You SO forget how small they really are! Considering Quinn is such a giant!
Jo: sounds like you are having the same pregnancy with me, my general symptom was being really tired, in the first tri I was falling asleep at about 6:30 every night....funny times.
-
Hi nox - I am booked into Cabrini. Were were pleased with the tour and have only heard good things about it.
Relle - I'll see if at my next appointment (Oct) if Dr D says anything about you or offers me a card!
-
LOL Jo! I don't think he will say anything unless you ask about Doulas. He said he was more than happy to hand them out but thinks people would have already made up their minds by the time he sees them! I would LOVE to hear if he does though!
If you do want a Doula let me know hun! My ultimate goal is to have a birth a month at Cabrini with Dennis as the Ob! hahahahaha
-
Hey Jo -- That's great -- I think most of the women on the thread were Cabrini. I'm off there as well (hopefully soon). Many of my friends have birthed there and the food, rooms and midwifes are great.
-
hi girls!!
Nox, sorry to hear you didn't go into labour over the weekend as hoped, but glad to hear that you're feeling so good! i've been saying the same thing - i don't really even feel pregnant... when i look in the mirror there is no mistaking it - my belly is HUGE - but i am feeling so well (and have been the whole pregnancy), that i'm convinced i'll definitely go overdue... i'm SO impatient though... i'm only 36.5wks PG but am continually looking out for "signs" that labour may be close... am yet to see any!! i don't have ANY aches or pains, am still very mobile, can eat well, breathe easily, sleeping well, etc... and there has been no sign of the nesting kicking in either... aaaagggghhh....
Relle - that is lovely that Dennis said so many great things to the medical student about a) Doulas in general and b) you specifically as a Doula!! i was surprised to see that he had a medical student there when i went for my appointment on Mon - i thought that they would only go to Drs who worked in the public system - it is nice for Dennis to take the time to train the next generation of OBs!!
Jo - congrats on your great scan and blood test results!! and i hope that the rest of your pregnancy is as trouble-free as it has been so far!!
well, i went into Cabrini today to hand in my Birth Preferences for them to add to my file. i also changed my surname with them as my DH is paranoid that the baby's armband may have my maiden name on it instead of his surname!! i have changed my name with Medicare, HBA, Dennis, and finally today with Cabrini, so he should be safe (although i might ask the midwives to make up a fake armband for the baby with my maiden name on it just as a joke - ha ha ha!!)...
anyway, while i was at Cabrini i went and stalked the babies in the nursery as per usual!! they are SO cute!! i want mine now!! ha ha ha!!
Kirsten, i met a lady at pilates the other day that also did the same CalmBirth course as us and she completely swears by it! i felt so guilty after talking to her (because i haven't been listening to my CD) that i went home and did the meditation straight away. i really need to try and get into a routine, but i just find it such a hassle because we don't have a CD player and i have to move my computer to my bedroom every time i want to listen to the CD (because it's the only thing i have that plays CDs!!)... anyway, i have bought my DH the iPod Hi Fi system for fathers day this weekend so then i'll be able to load the CD onto his iPod and listen to it from that which will be much easier...

It's such a special and amazing time to meet your baby for the first time! I am getting teary just thinking about it. It seems like not very long ago at all that you were both not that pregnant!! It goes so fast.
