Hey nox, no hun, it wasn't me about the cost. My serum test cost $100.10
I have been thinking about that you know! What will life be like????? I must admit going from 1 to 2 wasn't so much stressful in the "not knowing what you are doing sense of the word" but instead just really really busy. This time I think it will be chaos! (oh my) maybe all the more reason to have both the boys in care for 2 days a week, at least then the baby can have some 1 on 1 time with me!
OK Girls, I was talking to Kahmanya this morning about names and we have 2 options at the moment, let's see what you all think:
Carter Jett or Connor Jett???????
ETA: do you think it is bad that I already have the air con on! LOL
-
Ella - you are allowed to slacken off a bit, thats a pregnant womans perogative LOL!!! I agree with the you and the other girls, the public hospital system is terrible. Some of them boot you out after 48 hours and they wonder why so many women can't breastfeed, its because they are forced out before they are shown properly. Angliss is the same, 4 to a room and its so noisy! Baby always in the room with you as nursery usually isn't staffed. With Marley, I had her in the nursery every night and they bought her to me for a feed. They are much more relaxed with second babies and let you do what you want. First time they were more keen to have Chelsea in the room with me to experience what it was like to tend to her. We are all lucky that we can enjoy the comforts and food of a private hospital. Congratulations to your friend, I hope she starts to feel better soon.
Gigi - the next 9 weeks will fly by, they always do. Take time to relax and enjoy it.
Nox - it is stil hot! This muggy weather is awful. Enjoy your cuppa and paper reading. I did mine this morning while Marley was asleep and Chelsea is at creche/kinder. Life with one baby is beautiful, you will love it.
Relle - I can't believe you are halfway already. It seems like only a few weeks ago you were announcing your pregnancy. You have packed so much into those weeks with study and renovating. Great idea with the childcare, hopefully they will make things a bit easier for you.
-
Hey Mel, yeah that are great with 2nd babies too - I had Cooper in the nursery every night for a time, but still couldn't sleep - even with sleeping tablets on board! I was too wired! LOL
The midwives I think are really really patient with the breastfeeding ass well, they really do take the time to help you establish it.
Yep - I have packed lots in, cause I am trying not to think about the mayhem that my life will become!hehehehehehehehe
Don't worry girls you will be the first to know when it is up and running, you all don't know how much your support and encouragement to become a Doula has meant to me! huge *mwahs* to all of you!
-
Yes Mel, it is WAY to hot to work ... I have been searching for prego pilates and yoga online ... I know this was discussed a while ago on the original ILOVEDENNIS thread ... trying to find one isn't exactly hard, but for some reason it is not easy for me! Who knows why!
Relle, I like both your names but have a soft spot for Conner. Are you guys theming with the 'C's? Jett is such a great name. I know another little lad with that name. Also thanks re the $$ of the test because mine was much the same and someone did tell me to question it ... is prego brain a real thing? Think I have it!!! LOL
-
wow - things move fast in this thread!
Relle - i prefer Connor too (it's my bro's name, although he has the Irish spelling Conor).. although these days it's got very popular, so maybe that would lean me more towards Carter... they're both fantastic names!! i think there are so many good boys names around, but i don't seem to like too many girls ones...
Nox - i think i remember that the best pregnancy yoga place recommended to me was in East Melbourne (can't remember name, but will look up on google). i haven't actually been yet, but i've just given up my Thurs night sewing classes, so that gives me a night free to do yoga now...
Mel - when i went to see Cabrini a few weeks ago i wasn't that impressed (because everyone on here had described it as a hotel i had VERY high expectations), but after being to visit my friend last night i now think that Cabrini looks like a resort!! ha ha ha!! anyway, very glad to be going there, and also glad they have good food - i love my food!
Gigi - only 9 weeks to go - i'm jealous!! i have the longest to go in this thread!! hopefully we'll have another Dennis fan join us soon, so i can progress in the queue!!
-
Hi ladies!
Relle - I am with the other girls - I like Connor Jett best. Love it. I think they say that you always reminisce about life before the last one being easy - as in, before one, it's just you and DH and it's easy. Then you have one - and you remember how easy it was without one, then you have two and you remember how easy it was with one etc etc - not that we would give them back of course!!!
Nox - I went to preggo yoga in East St.Kilda - not sure where you are - but it was really good. Not too full on - a real hippie of a teacher! LOL...
Ella - I think you will love Cabrini when you are in there. I have been to several other maternity hossies to see friends and it is the nicest I have been to. and yes, the food was great last time - you even get to order wine with dinner!!!
Yes, I am definitely at the pointy end of business now - 9 weeks and counting! Lots of movement from the alien still and regular BH contractions too. Can't wait to feel that familiar beginning of a real contraction (touch wood to go into natural labour again!). Have pretty well packed up my hossie bag too now - just have to buy my fave breast pads at BIG W (much cheaper....) and I will be ready to go!
It is still hot today isn't it! I found the weekend soooo hard.....
have a great day all
Gigi xx

Hi girls thought i would popp in and say hello to my favourite club!!:p
Is everyone okay? My 3 boys are certainly keeping me busy! Relle you are soon to find out!!!!!
:nana: Relle I told ya!!!! CONNOR is such a cool name!!! Love it!!
-
Hi girls,
Relle - I will throw a spanner in the works by saying I like the name Carter, its a bit more unusual than Connor. Was having "CJ" names something you decided before kids or after? My old boss had 3 boys all with J names and he and his wife had J names too! Very confusing!!!
Ros - I can't imagine how hectic life must be with 3 kids. Relle will be able to tell us soon enough. Then I will decide if I can handle another one LOL!!!! You guys can be my test guinea pigs!!!!
Nox - are you getting any work done today? I feel so unmotivated today and I'm not working LOL!!! Glad Chelsea is at kinder, makes the house a little bit quieter.
Another hot day! Can't wait for the weekend when it is supposed to be cooler. I don't envy you pregnant ladies with this heat. Stay cool everyone.
-
Hi Girls,
we just got back from our first trip to playgroup up here since we have moved and all went well. So hopefully it will become a weekly occurance! Just had a check and there is no sign of the webpage yet, will keep you posted.
I have my first official pre-natal booked in for next thursday night with a lady that is due the end of May, so I am really looking forward to that - but very nervous at the same time. I did loads and loads of research last night on VBAC and posterior bubs to help her out.
Nox- We actually did not intentionally set out with the CJ, we had it for Campbell and then I loved Cooper Jack, and now I don't think I can go right through the names of another letter of the alphabet! :D
By the way, the preggo brain is actually a fact! I have learnt this in my course! It is because of the hormones that a pregnant woman releases!!!!!!
Ella- LOL about Cabrini being a resort, just wait till you have been there - you will love it! The soundproofed rooms, double beds in most instances and then they just keep bringing all this yummy food to you! Yeah they are both good names, hence the problem! I told Rod last night that the vote is heading to Connor which he is happy about!
Gigi You poor thing with the heat! You would be feeling it the most of all of us! I don't know about looking forward to that first contraction! LOL I guess I should try to though! hehehe. How are you going today with the heat babe? Do you have aircon at all?
Ros you don't have to scare me! :cryinglaugh: :cryinglaugh: I am packing myself already! By the way, make sure you come to my next appt with Dennis so you can get your fix! LOL Don't forget - 13th March
Mel LOL at us being your guinea pigs - I don't know that I would be a good test case! hehehehehe I am so jealous of you and Ros, her older boys are at scholl and you have Chelsea at Kinder - I am hanging for 2009! LOL that is when Campbell will start kinder - sooooo far away!
OK well I had better go and get some work done on these modules, will chat soon!
-
Relle,
We have our next appointments with Dennis on the same day again! mine isn't until 4:15 though (or is it 4:30, i forget), because of the u/s time...
i've always said that i wanted at least 4 children (ideally 6), but now i'm wondering if i'll be able to cope with 1!! my mum had 5 kids with absolutely no family to help her (migrants), and one of my bro's is disabled - i don't know HOW she did it!!
-
hehehe Ella! my appt is at 2.15pm, so next time we will have to get our act into gear and meet there! lol
Although you may not see him after this one till you 19/20 week scan so we will be out of wack!
Wow - your mum must have been amazing! My mum had 4 and my dad was a shift worker so he was never any help.
Everyone that knows me thinks I will end up with 4, but if I do - it will not be for a very long time! LOL
ETA: I have just passed the 3rd module so I am onto the finale module which is all about running the business, so am going to do this one very slowly and make sure I take it all in. I may have had kids before, but I have never actually ran a business before!
-
my, my!! you have FLOWN through the course!! well done!
-
Relle - you are a genius!!! That is so wonderful that you have almost finished and you have a client to see. You sound very prepared reading up on possible scenarios. You should be extremely proud of yourself
It is such a blessing having Chelsea at kinder. She only goes 2 days per week, but I relish those days. The house is clean and quiet and Marley and I can have lots of play time together. It our 'girls' day together lol!!!!
Ella - you mum sounds like a saint and a wonderful mum raising 5 kids. It amazing how many women in the 60's and 70's had lots of kids and DH's were never expected to help out. They worked and the women tended to the children and household - thank god things have changed! I always wanted 3 kids and so does DH. It depends on what happens when I return to work in July.
-
Hi girls,
glad to hear everyone is so well!
heat not so bad today think goodness. Relle, we don't have AC so it's been pretty hard. Well, technically we have an old wall unit (yes, renos have been put on hold till post babies!) and even though it says "Ultra Quiet" - I think that the fact that it's a Rank Arena probably built in 1979, it is SOOO loud. I suppose it was quiet 30 years ago but not now! So I hate having it on really as it really only cools the one room anyway and deafens me.....!
Wow Ella at your mum having 5 kids. I can't imagine it. I still freak out at the girls with 3 in here! I am freaking at number 2!!
Hope you all have a great day. I have my next Dennis appt on the 6th of March - anyone else?
gigi

-
Ok girls - it is official! I am official, I have a webpage!
if you go to the Optimum birth website and look under the melbourne area you will find me! (don't think I am allowed to post links!)
How exciting!!!!
-
Relle, just found it. You are in the Melb-South East section. It is exciting for you. Your picture looks great, lovely photo of you. Hope you start getting some enquiries. How's the last module going?
Gigi - LOL about the Rank Arena! My MIL has an ancient noisy air con but it still works really well. Hopefully we won't need to use them this weekend. Finally some cooler weather.
-
HELLO LADIES!!!
Feels like ages (and it has been!) since I've been here!!! Out of control! Mel, this is what happens, I do NOTHING for ages -- then it all just has to happen and I have been so flat out it is crazy!!!! BAH! Anyway so tired ... but that's boring!
So much has happened here, eh??? WHAT A WEBSITE GIRL!!! It's so great! Relle, I have been meaning to email you set a time -- sorry darling, crazy busy at the ends of the week but will def do it!! Both you and Ella are in at Dennis on my Birthday -- good happy vibes coming your way!
Gigi -- was the prego yoga yoga moves? I may think about that one too ... I am also prob going (when I get off this ass!) to yoga in Albert Park (am in Prahran, but for yoga will do a little travel!)... but I really love yoga so am also wanting to do more than one place ever seems to offer!
OK have to get some food organised here ... bro-in-law+wife coming over any sec.
Speak later hope you are all well.
-
Hi Girls!
Thanks for looking at it! :D
I am pretty stoked with it, and am hoping that I start to get a couple more biths to attend so I can become a fully fledged Doula!
Nox - hun you poor thing! Tell your bosses to back off! ( yeah right I know! ) how rude of them to make you work like crazy babe! :D Hope you have a lovely dinner. What's on the menu? By the way, that will be easy to remember your birthday! 13th March!!!!! This will be an exciting apt for Ella coming up to - her 12 weeks scan I think??? What date is your 20 week scan hun?
Mel-Thanks Mel, I hate having my photo taken, but I do not mind that one! lol The last module has been slower going, want to really get this one right, so I am only looking at it when I am in the right frame of mind to soak it all in iykwim
I have been a bit exhausted today, so I even had a rest this arvo while the boys were down. This little bubba on board has been going ballistic lately as well, I just can't wait for Rod to feel it. I think I am really starting to "feel" pregnant today, clothes definately not fitting, bump getting in the way etc.
I have met up with another trainee doula in the South East and we are going to work as back ups for each other, so that is great - I don't feel so out on a limb byu myself now. I have someone to bounce ideas off etc as well..
Well I had better head off, hope Gigi and Kirsten are well too!
And to Ros Happy 10th Wedding anniversary babe!
-
Hi all,
Just a quick on tonight before a little bowl of ice cream and the couch calls!
Relle - will log on and check out the site but sounds like it's awesome. well done babe.
Mel - I know - how nice was it to have a bit of a cooler day today and no noisy AC required! even some rain on the roof this morning - divine. had forgotten what it sounds like.
nox - yes, it was yoga moves. was really good and very relaxed. am thinking of getting back there myself for the last few weeks. although at the rate this alien is getting up under my ribs I might not be able to get into many positions! sorry to hear your bosses are annoying and you are tired. try and get some rest babe. we all need it!
have a great weekend girls!
Gigi x
-
Relle you crack me up!!!!
Thanks babe.
I am so nervous about the party tonight! We are having a masquerade party, wish Relle was comming:cry:
My 10 year is actually 29 th March but we are having the party tonight with another couple hence why we could afford the pier at port melbourne. Hey you girls should rock up with i love Dennis logos!!!;) Don't worry no one will notice (got about 130 people attending) We can squish you girls in!!
I am going to check your website Relle
-
Relle that is soooooo cool!!!!
You look Gorgeous!!
-
Awww thanks hun! it is not a bad photo! LOL
You will have a wonderful time at the pary! I am sooo sorry I can't come!you will look stunning as always!
Gees Ros what a crack up it would be if we did all turn up like that! hahahahahah too funny!
So are you free at 2.15pm on the 13th for my appt with Dennis hun? I reckon we would just have time before you have to get the boys from school!
-
Absoloutely how can i miss the opportunity to see my fav OBS !!!!
-
Have a great night Ros - hope it all goes well! LOL re I love Dennis logos - that would be hilarious....
Looking forward to my next Dennis appointment - feel like I have grown a bit this week. I have some kind of bottom or limb up under my right ribs which is getting quite uncomfortable and The Alien has definitely slowed down movements as we reach the end of the journey. Can't believe I am 32 weeks on Wednesday! Bring it on!!!
Have a great Sunday everyone - hope you are all well.
Gigi xx
-
Gigi are you in to see him on the 6th???
-
Congrats on your 10 years, Ros -- How was the party? Sounds very glam! Maybe we should all have a Dennis-themed party -- pink shirts, funky glasses ...
Gigi, when you say relaxed (yoga moves), was it just breathing and hardly moving? I may need something more rigorous.
Aside from physical reminders such as hunger and exhaustion, I have hardly had a second to even think about being pregnant lately! From all your experiences, once bubba comes, how did you feel about work etc? How much and when did you go back? I have been asked to create a job for myself at a good firm, but given that I am 13.5 w and not sure what I can do and when I will want to come back to work, I am avoiding answering the calls!! (childish, I know! LOL)
-
Morning chicks,
Relle - yep - am in with the D man on the 6th. Looking forward to it actually. I am still on Monthlies but I would assume that by then (33 weeks) that he will finally put me on fortnightlies!
Nox - when I say relaxed I mean that just in the atmosphere and ambience of the space - not fancy and lycra filled, if you know what I mean...? the instructor was just a laid back hippie. the moves themselves were quite full on really - at least some of them. and you could do as much or as little as you wanted. When you get bigger they have the benches to help support you too which is great.
Re work - I took 12 months with Ella but will probably only take 8 months this time. It's a very individual thing I think - I was lucky with Ella and had a good sleeper and eater so it was a joy being home with her - she was very easy. But you never know - the alien might be a nightmare and much harder work! I am back now part time - just 2 days in the office and a day from home, which is perfect for me with Ella and grandma day care etc.
have a great Monday all!
gigi
-
A little groggy!
-
Ros -- you look stunning! Glad to hear you had such fun -- even if you have to mildly suffer today! Hope it's not too bad -- hung over w the kids ...
Gigi -- that does sound good re yoga. Most of my friends have taken a year off w the first one and then less with the next ... can't imagine a new place would go for that though! As you day, it is individual but I don't want to lock myself into less time off and then regret it later! Too many decisions as a mother. I am really gaining respect for mine! Don't tell her though! LOL
-
HEllo all - just thought I'd pop in and let you know I'm still alive - although barely awake! How do you do 3??? I have one and I'm exhausted even though he is a good little boy and sleeps lots. Having boob problems and am just expressing and sleeping a lot at the moment...Oh well. Part of the deal I think.
I loved the idea of all turning up to Ros's party in Dennis outfits! LOVE IT!
-
HI girls
Nox How hilarious would that be! he does wear blue as well, the photos I have of him with the boys he is in blue! How is your tiredness going babe?
Gigi I thought that you mentioned the 6th - so you are first in to see him next love! Make sure we hear all about it!!!! I would hang to get to the fortnightly appointment, cause that finally meant you were nearly there didn't it! Weeklys are even better - closer still!
Ros See I told you! As always you were stunning and definately not looking worse for wear! Was it fun? Did you have a great night????
Kirsten So glad you are still alive babe! How do we do 3 - I have no idea, as me in 20 weeks when I am finally off my sav rocker! Hope the MCHN gives you some help with the boob issues hun. Honestly I think the first baby is the worse, cause it is all such a shock, whereas after that you get really tired, but it is not the shock factor iykwim????
OK girls, well I had better go and do some work, DH finally felt the little turkey move last night, so he was pretty stoked and of course as usual, it all became alot more real for him in that split second.
I have decided just to put Cooper in with Campbell at creche on a tuesday and not go with Family Day care, the lady was lovely, but I think Campbell has only just settled into crehce and Rod can pick them up on the way home from the station where the creche is.
-
Ohhh Girls this is just the funniest!!!!! I have to share this and will have to tell Dennis when I next see him!
I have photos of when I had Cooper and also some after having Campbell, and these albums are within Campbell's reach. Anyway Campbell has seen the gory shots and all cause I forgot they were in there, and he looks at all of our photo albums regularly. Obviously the photos haven't stressed him out, and I guess it is not much different to him witnessing his brother's birth, so I don't really mind that he understands. If it upset him, I would pack them away.
Anyway, I saw him looking at them and he said "Mummy's bottom is sore, she is in hospital cause Cooper is coming out" Then I said to him a bit later, how does the baby come out and his comment just then was" Dr Dennis helps mummy in hospital to get the baby out of mummy's tummy and her bottom is sore when the baby comes out and Dr Dennis makes you better! "
How awesome is that! I did not even say to him about Dennis, He knows I go to see him and he has put all of this together ( There is also a photo of Dennis with Rod Cooper and I directly after the birth), so he has put all of this together!!!!! How smart is my little boy that is only 3 in March!:D
-
That is just SO DIVINE!!!!! I love it -- how adorable! He is so totally part of the ILOVEDENNIS club -- you can tell that he is! And as you say so clever!
BTW Relle, went to Cabrini yesterday re signing in & classes etc. Told them I was having a doula and midwife was fine but asked some details. I told her that my doula, although a student, was a regular there and a Dennis regular and she was absolutely relieved and became even more encouraging about it! Thought you'd love that! She was also full of praise re Dennis!
-
oohh Thanks hun for the feedback! Was it Helen you saw? I told Helen the other day that I was studying to become a Doula. How exciting by the way, doing all of the official booking in - feels even more real now doesn't it! lol
I can understand them being concerned if the client felt that they didn't have faith in the Dr or Hospital, but as you say I love both so I am glad she was cool with that!
-
Hi girls,
Relle - so funny re your little boy - how clever he is! Love the Doctor Dennis call.....yep - I am in to see him next and will fill you all in on how it goes. can't wait - have a few questions and you are so right, as soon as you get onto the fortnightlies you know you are almost there - and then weeklies! bring it on! (except when he sees you weekly and after each appointment says - "well, I think I will be seeing you next week..." each time. Just once i'd like him to say "well, might see you delivering before next week!" LOL.
Kirsten - glad to hear The Mighty Quinn is a good sleeper - that's half the battle babe. Sorry that boob issues are hounding you - well done though, it's a daunting task if things aren't going to plan with BF. get as much rest as you can.
Nox - how are you feeling babe? exciting re the hossy book-in - makes it feel so real don't you think? good luck with your time off questions - hope all works out.
Not much news here - Alien has got to that 32 weeks stage of not moving as much but more painful movements with what I am assuming is a bottom up close to my right ribs. lots of BH -and mine are strong so the tightening is amazing in my belly. it really changes shape and points forward. am going to ask "Dr Dennis" about my belly on Tuesday - when I lie on my back it still is flattening out and not still sticking up and outwards, like it did with Ella at this same stage. weird - I guess they're all different though!
anyway ladies, have a great day and speak soon. Stay well.
gigi xx
-
Hi Ladies!
i have some questions for all those who have used the u/s clinic in Malvern. will they give me a dvd/video of the 12-week NT scan? i know that my sis and SIL have both been given all of their scans on dvd or video... when i went in for my emergency scan last week, the equipment didn't look that high tech in the clinic, but maybe that's just because they were only concerned in seeing a heartbeat, so didn't bother adjusting the resolution or anything to suit...
very cute story about your son Relle - very clever for him to put the jigsaw of info together!!
nox, you have just reminded me that i'm meant to fill in my paperwork for cabrini sometime soon too. can i just walk in to the ward and ask for the forms? i can't remember what the instructions from dennis's receptionist were!!
-
Ella - yes, the Malvern US clinic will do DVD and video - you can take your own VHS or recordable DVD and it will be cheaper or they have them there that you can purchase.
Hope you're feeling well!
gigi
-
Ella -- I didn't get a DVD for my 12w because it never occurred to me to be honest! However I am bringing one in for my 20w! I never got anything from Dennis re Cabrini so I rang and filled everything out there.
Gigi -- I am really feeling great, to be honest. Although I am still incredible disorganised with my work. I do a lot of work from home and this is becoming a disaster!
I got offered the perfect job and for the first time in my life had to actually say no! It would involve too much stress on baby both now and in the future. I'll tell you, I feel so guilty, but I cried about it and was so upset that I was pregnant for the first time ever! Anyway, am over it now -- nothing a pack of TimTams and a dozen baby mags won't eventually fix! LOL
Relle -- it was Helen. They are really lovely there. It is really real now, isn't it? It was the signing up for all those classes (we couldn't get into the Sunday ones so have to go weekly). Wow a real commitment!LOL
So many things to oragnise for this!! How do you all do it???? I am just confused and staggering!!!!!
-
thanks gigi! i will bring along a writeable dvd then! how exciting! how much does the scan cost (approx)?
i'm feeling pretty well lately! i've had a few dizzy spells, some very minor nausea and i'm pretty tired, but nothing too taxing... the weeks are starting to pass by quicker too which is more fun!
thanks nox, i'll just do the same. call cabrini up then head in to fill out the forms. might see if i can drag my DH with me too - he hasn't been in there yet...
-
Ella - I think it's about $170 (??Relle?? - do you remember?) all up and they will tell you how much you get back. They make you pay up front but accept credit etc. the DVD/VHS is so good to have and look back on!
Watch out for those dizzy spells - I had that too and it turned out my blood pressure was really low, and I found it worse in the heat!
Nox - glad that the tim tams worked to get you over the work thing. those emotional rollercoasters are pretty full on aren't they!
have a great night all. am away for the weekend from tomorrow to stay with mum and dad as DH is going fishing. (yeah, read drinking bourbon from hip flasks and talking about football!)
Gigi xx
