Dr didnt even say congrats hrmmm

expat that really sucks even i had an NT test and im only 21 any one can be at risk no matter how old u are even if ur 20 and fully healthy u could have a bub with an abnormality just as u could be 45 and have a fully healthy baby i would have slapped my doc if he said that

squidpa - It could be that the doc has had some bad experiences with congratulating people with unwanted pregnancies. I would also say that most doctors wouldn't advise a woman who already had 4 kids to take vitamins.... it's a bit obvious isn't it?

yeah good point but what if your a forget full person lol its also good to be informed of new information with medical research and all like as an example i got one injection before and after my daughter was born as i have a neg blood group but since all that time its now changed a little.

i feel for you but think its not a Dr's place to congratulate as they really dont know how the reaction of a positive result will be taken.

In saying that all 3 of my pregnancies ive never been congratulated by the Dr who confirmed it. My first one went into talking about what i need to do if i dont choose to keep it (i was only 18). Although it was unplanned that thought never crossed my mind and i got 'the look' from the dr when i said i wouldnt be going down that road.

I was never informed about any kind of vitamins all 3 times. just told when to come back for next visit.

I have never been told about vitamins etc with any pregnancy and TBH after the 1st baby i would have been insulted if he had started telling me how to look after myself when pg. Considering that your youngest child is not years older than this new bub will be he probably felt he would be insulting you by giving you pg advice.

very interesting i must say i have been put in my box so to speak lol i had a really great dr once lol and he always was informative and un rushed with me i think he set the bar high

When I went to the Doctor's with DS I couldn't get in to my normal GP, so I saw another one. I was about 6 weeks by then and I really just went because I knew I needed to organise blood tests etc, and because I had an ectopic pg when I was quite young, so I have always been told to go to the Dr's as soon as I may suspect that I am pg so that they can check on this (hormone levels etc). She was really quite rude and negative and quite sour, and told me "Well.....I won't be saying congratulations". I went in so excited and positive because it was 4 years since our daughter was born, and this next baby was very much planned and so, sowanted (and she knew that because that was the first thing she asked), and went out feeling confused and a bit down.
I booked in to my normal GP for a couple of weeks later, and she was SO, SO happy for me and the first thing she said was Congratulations! But then I am very very blessed to have her as my GP, she is amazing and she delivered my son.

I do know what you mean Squidipa, in that it's really great to have a doctor who chats and has great people skills and seems really concerned about you, and then you see another who you don't connect with as much. But hey - congratulations!
