Red face Embarrassed & Worried - Green discharge :(

I've read that if you have greenish discharge you should see a doctor straight away, is it that serious?

Last night DP and I dtd for the first time in like...3 months? It hurt and was uncomfortable and it kinda felt like burning/stinging down there for a while after. Anyway, this morning when I went to the toilet and I wiped there was this gross green snotty discharge on the paper (sorry tmi), quite a lot and it's made me really worried - I was thinking of even keeping it and showing the doctor I've been getting some discharge recently, but not like this. All I can say is, I'm never dtd while pregnant again!!

Any idea what it could mean and if it's normal or really serious?

Definitely sounds like an infection of sorts, definitely head in and get onto some antibiotics asap.

When I was pg with Emily I had a greenish type of discharge. I headed up to the birth suite and after examing me found that I had an extreme case of thrush. BUT, it could have been a lot worse, they were fearing that it was something nasty.
Definitely get looked at straight away.

Sounds like it could be with the burning and stinging. Let us know how you go.

I had a similar thing with the green discharge and had it checked out but for me it wasnt anything serious, it was only very light green in colour. I showed my Ob and she took a swab but it was all good.
I also get a bit of a stinging/numbing sensation after dtd but i put that down to not actually dtd very often
Good luck and i hope its all cleared up soon

I managed to get in to see a doctor and she did some swabs to send off for testing. It was the most painful internal I've ever had! I will get results on Tuesday. She said she doesn't think it's anything nasty but just making sure. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious

    Thanks for the replies

Thanks for the advice and well wishes Turns out it is nothing to worry about, negative for everything, even thrush. I just have a large amount of "good bacteria" which is helping in producing lots of gross stuff lol. I haven't had anything like the amount and colour of what it was like last week after dtd so that's it, won't be doing it again for another 3 months! I am very relieved!!

    THanks again! xox

I just had a similar experience except the discharge was a very light yellow. No stinging and burning either. Maybe our bodies just like to keep us on our toes when we have a little one inside. I'm hoping mine is nothing, as I don't have any other symptoms. Just put it down to not having dtd in soooo long.

Yeah, I had the vaginal snot too in pregnancy (what a way with words I have!). It's fantastic! I'm sure there's a post from me from mid-June 2006 in the TTC chat area about green mucus for all the details (my pg journal first page too).

I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier and you were worried for a bit. As far as I'm concerned, it's normal and fine.
