    Exclamation Food Aversion Worries

    howdy

i have hijacked my partners account and thought i would ask cause she is feeling pretty hopeless. she is suffering from massive food aversions to the point where she pretty much cant eat anything that isnt a craving (which seems to be a craving for impossible to obtain items such as Peaches which arnt in season for a while yet and cheesebread from her home town over 100km away) so i was wondering if there was anything i can do to get her to eat? i am really worried about her health.

Sorry to hear your darling is having a hard time of it. If you think it's serious (like she's not eating/drinking at all) then a trip to the docs is your best bet, they can give her stuff to keep the nausea at bay or even keep her overnight to help out.

If you don't think it's that bad then I can tell you what the doc told me ... hospital grade sustagen and elevit is a good short term measure and it's easy to stomach. Get the hospital grade sustagen though, it's got more of the good stuff than the normal sustagen, and that should help until she starts feeling more in the mood.

Thanks for your response their Diva, she's feeling a lot better since getting on the Elevit, and the Sustagens been fantastic in at least her sustaining some energy throughout the day. We're starting to figure out what she can and can't eat, mind, it's mostly the same food every night, and too annoying to cook twice, so we're hoping things get better.

The most frustrating thing is, she wants to eat all the foods, that are especially difficult like steak, or chicken in stir fry's (she can eat a full breast, but no slices or pieces - she says its texture), and she gets really angry at herself when she can't stomach it. We've tried a few different things, like to start off with, making sure she wasn't cooking, to the point where now she'll spend time out of the house while dinner is being cooked. But yes, hopefully we'll get there!

    Thanks for your advice

Poor poppet, I can totally understand. This is our first PG and I thought food adversion was something mild, but I copped my taste of it when my hubby was cooking steak ... I too had to flee the house, dry retching, then we both had to shower, clothes HAD to be washed then and there and house disinfected. Needless to say we haven't tried cooking steak again!

Glad things are picking up though and the hospital strength sustagen and elevit are working ... hang in there and hopefully things will improve as time goes on ...
