Thanks so much for all your recommendations, ladies! I've written them down and after my second BT (I need confirmation that all is well and my hcg levels are rising) I'll be off to Borders to have a good look around
Gentle birth, gentle mothering- Dr Sarah Buckley - YES! i agree with this one. even though this is my second bub its been wonderful.
Up the Duff is also good - helps with the men folk being able to point and go "look how big baby is this week" as well as a good chuckle.
GL with the blood test!
Check out your local library first - they will have many of these titles also. Are you planning to join the ABA? I know it seems a bit early now, but your local group will have a library you can borrow from with lots of good pregnancy/birth and parenting books.
For pregnancy, I've found bb my best source of info. I think because everyone's experience is so different that no book is really going to cover it all. I read up the duff and found it amusing, but completely unhelpful.
For birth i found the materials I got for my Birthskills hypnobirthing course a really excellent source of info.
I've got the Aussie version of What to Expect When Your Expecting - not really impressed with it, can't really explain why, probably cause it seems to be very scientific and medically presented if that makes sense.
I'm also looking around for some good reading. I've read some reviews about Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy (or something like that) its supposed to be quite good.
Think I'm also going to subscribe to a mag - any recommendations?
