Question Having a "show"? now what??

    Good Afternoon All,

So I had my OB appointment today and she did an internal and baby is fully engaged but cervix was not yet dialated - now I get home and I have some dark brown blood - is this the "show"?
Do I need to call the midwifes or anything now or do I just wait and see what happens??

    Cheers In Advance!

The baby is going to come out.

    Oh, you knew that? LOL!

Um, you can have a show about 2 weeks before birth, nothing really to be done, just wait until the cntx start.

Go for a walk if you feel nervous, won't be long now!

Show is usually a bit mucousy and globby with mixed blood etc.

Brown blood - she might have dislodged some old blood perhaps that has just come out - or it could be prefacing your show!

Either way, not long now - but you don't need to call anyone yet. It still could be days.

Tis very common to have a small amount of blood after an internal. If you start to bleed red blood (that you need a pad for) then you will need to go to hossy...

What you have discribed is nothing to worry about

Yep I would say that is more from the OB poking around - not a show.

If it's a show there is not only blood, but mucous etc as well.

I had what I thought was a show a few days before my actual show. If your show is anything like what mine was, you'll certainly know. I freaked out coz it was a massive chunck of mucus (TMI), about the size of a golf ball from memory. I rang my mum when it happened coz I didn't know what was going on at the time. I'd heard about the show but didn't know what to expect. But it wont be long.
Also, for me, I had contractions for the whole day when I had my show, then the following day I was fine, then in the middle of the night my waters broke and I went into proper labour.

I had no blood in my show either which is why I didn't realise that's what it was.
