HCG levels didn't double in 2 days.

A good friend of mine has already had 2 m/c and is now preg for the 3rd time.
She had blood test done and HCG were 68 (she would've been about 4.5 weeks) then 2 days later HCG 128, she is getting them repeated again Wed but been told its not looking good.
Anyone themselves or know anyone where levels didn't increase in great amounts but still managed to hold a pregnancy? I'd so hate for her to have to go thru a m/c again in such short time.

Really sorry to hear about your friend. I am not sure, but I would think they would keep doubling. I hope it is good news for her.

I wouldn't worry about a tiny difference like that.

Twice 68 is 136, which is really close to 128. Even doing the test an hour or two earlier on the second test day would cause a difference like that. It sounds like things are going well for her and she shouldn't stress!

My hcg levels definitely did not double (let alone triple) every 2 - 3 days. I was really worried, but the drs all said that the main thing was that they were rising. They didn't seem worried about my hcg levels at all. I'm now 14 weeks pregnant & the baby's going great (though I am having unrelated problems with the pregnancy).

Best of luck for your friend.

i agree - they're so close to doubling within the two days i'd discard the difference!

from the reading i've done (and there has been heaps of it!) as long as levels rise by at least two thirds in that time frame, they are deemed to be within normal parameters

i'd be having a hissy at the doctor for being so negative - how is someone that has suffered loss in the past supposed to maintain hope?? positive thoughts are important, keeping stress levels minimal are important - bloody doctor!

    good luck to your friend
