Question Head down and engaging - bub #2

I've just come back from the doctor who says bub is head down and 3/5 (so head down 2/5ths of the way?). I compared it to my first pregnancy and bub #1 wasn't in this position until 34 weeks. I'm currently 31 weeks.

I thought in second and subsequent pregnancies that bub doesn't usually engage until labour begins.

Does this mean everything will happen earlier this time?

or can bub 'float free' again?

bub can come back up but they can also stay engaged for weeks and weeks. Mia was starting to engage at 28 weeks and she was born (emergency c/s) 9 days early. HTH

    Hi Nellnell!

My second was engaged a few weeks before birth.

Maybe ask about it at your next app..

Also, just wanted to wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy

With ds2 he engaged at around 36 weeks (just the same time as ds1 did) at 3/5 and stayed at 3/5 engaged until labour started, although second babies can engage and then decide to unengage and float around a bit, more space as everything has already been stretched. Even though ds2 engaged at 36 weeks he didn't arrive till 41 weeks, so in my case things didn't happen earlier, that's not to say it won't for you though! All the best!

My next appointment is tomorrow, so I don't know for sure if what I'm about to say is true or not. Last week I felt like Millie had dropped a bit, where as for the past couple of days she's been up in my ribs (for the first time!). I think during a second pregnancy, the bub may engage but can also 'disengage'.

My DS2 engaged at around 36 weeks and I hoped that meant he'd come early, but nope! He was 5 days overdue.
