    Heart rate/gender myth

How much do you believe it and was it accurate for you?
At 7 weeks and 2 days Twin A's heart rate was 160 and Twin B's was 156 now we already have 2 DD's and a very missed DS in baby heaven and although I'll be grateful for just healthy bubbas but at the same time I'm going to be absolutely shattered if we have 2 girls, I can cope with one of each but these are our last and I really want a little boy

The HB myth is just that, a myth... There are a couple of studies that have proven it as such.

I hope you have at least one little boy in there and I hope they are happy and heathy. If you have a scan at 12 weeks I will be happy to see if I can see any gender clues from any pics that you get.

    xx

    Tanya that would be GREAT!!

Mum2romone- how do you do the ring test and what stage of pregnancy although it probably wouldn't work with twins if they are one of each

I know its a myth....but that said so far it's been accurate for my two kids (will let you know in a few weeks if its 'three times a charm') .

It's side to side for boy and circles for a girl.

I guess if it did both it would be one of each

I'm interested now to see what it does. We were 17 weeks pregnant so I had a little belly. I had just popped.

Absolute myth... I have two boys and Brendan's heart rate was always around 165+ BPM and Tristan's was 130-140ish BPM.
Also did the ring test (solid gold ring on a piece of string) was wrong for Brendan but right for Tristan.

My baby's heart rate was 140 at my scan, and we also found out she is a litle girl at the same scan.

As for the chinese gender calender, apparently it is more accurate if you use your age of conception in chinese lunar years. Mine has been right for all mine using chinese years.

This baby's heart rate sits consistently at 150-153... Gender wont be known probably for another 18weeks

Well, my DD was confused, because by the 'heart rate myth' she was a boy the first time and a girl the second. And I should have a younger brother, not two sisters.

Hey with the chinesse luna one. It says mothers age at conception. Now we conceived in July & my birthday is in July so do I go by 29 even though I would have been 30 a week later?

So what is the myth exactly, girls HR are higher and boys lower....but what are the approx numbers? This bub seems to be in between...maybe its a hermaphrodyte....LOL. It's heart rates have been 146bpm @ 7wks, 157 @ 18wks and 159 @ 29wks. Though 18wk U/S said boy, I still have it in my head that there's a chance it's a girl! Maybe just wishful thinking!

I have read above 150bpm is supposed to be a girl lower is a boy

From what I have read it is below 140 is a boy and above that is a girl. Both my boys had heart rates above 150 though, so didn't work for me. Maybe mine are opposite? My current bub had a HR of 139 this morning.

Efjay, the chinese thing is nonsense too, DS2 should have been a girl according to that theory. It also says that every baby concieved by a 30yo woman in the 2nd half of the year will be a boy????? I would go with 29 if you are sure that you were still 29 when you concieved.

I don't know the myth.... But ds had a heart rate of 156 bpm at 8 weeks

    And he's a boy hahaha

The ring test ( where you swing your wedding ring over your belly) was also RIGHT !!!!!!!

I have been testing this myself with labour CTG traces and guessing and I must say out of approx 30 I have only guessed one wrong based on the HR. I know its just a myth but from my viewing of CTG traces in labour there does seem to be a difference between girls and boys. Also I have noticed boys seem to have more decelerations in their heart rates then girls do. This is looking at term babies during labour however.
