I had a shocking irritable uterus with threatened pre-term labour with my son. I was in and out of hospt from 24 weeks. I had contractions every day and when they would build in strength and frequency I would take extra Nepeth (I cant spell it at all but the one your daugter is on) and get to hospt, I also had several doses of the steroids and multiple ultrasounds - around 25 for the whole pregnancy. My additional complications were a baby with significant heart disease and a two vessel umbilical cord (instead of three vessels) and a very small and weak placenta.
The only side effect I found was I got shocking headaches due to the drugs (and probably the stress too). The other side effect is a drop in the mothers blood pressure as the Nepth is a muscle relaxant and blood pressure drug.
We managed to get all the way to 36 weeks. He was small though, 1.6kg (3lb 10oz in the old scale). But his lungs were nice due to the amount of steroids I had.
I am now 36 weeks pregnant with bubs number two and while I was told there was a 50/50 chance of having the IU again and small bub complications too we are both fine this time! Yay.
I wish your daughter luck! I kept sane by learning to knit and crotchet, one rule I had was that while doing any project for the baby (blankets etc) I wasnt allowed to dwell on negative thoughts about what might happen to my bub. It helped keep a space in my day that was worry free as well.
