    High chance of twins??

    Hi All,
Im wondering if anyone has had a similar situation as me or knows someone. I found out i was pregnant with a very strong BFP at 8DPO. now at 10DPO i have constant morning sickness, only thrown up a few times but all day i feel like im on a ship. I found it so hard to get out of bed these last couple of days. with my DD i had such an easy pregnancy, i miscarried twins a year ago and Faternal twins run in both my mum and dad's side. What do you think? High chance for me?

    Thanks Guys

Perhaps you could get a dating scan to have a sneak peak??
Hope the morning sickness eases off for you, sounds pretty horrible!

Sounds like your HCG is very high to make you so ill. Perhaps it'd be worth taking a look at the levels to see what its saying. A scan would be good, but they might not see much before 5-6 weeks.

With my boys I got a really dark line at 10DPO, MS kicked in at about 7 weeks.

There's only one real way of knowing i guess, have a scan. High hcg levels could also indicate a molar pregnancy, maybe you o'ed earlier than usual so are further along, or jusdt a strong little bubba in there. Sorry you're feeling the sickness already - that cant be fun

My SIL had such high Hcg levels that her Dr called her to come in when the results came back as the Dr suspected twins & sent her for a scan. Her Dr was convinced it would be twins. But nope, just the 1 little bubble in there which was correct for dates etc. My sil just had really high Hcg levels for some reason.

I have set up a scan for 15/3 which by then I will be
6 weeks, which I think is the earliest that can do a scan
So fingers crossed, I don't think I'll mind twins, as long as they are
    happy and healthy.

It is really hard to tell if you are expecting twins without having a scan. With DD I got a +POAS at 9dpo and at my blood test at 16dpo my HCG was 305, with this pregnancy I also got a +POAS at 9dpo and at my blood test at 16dpo my HCG was 351. So not much difference both times and 1 was a singleton pregnancy and the other a twin pregnancy. Genetically you have a higher chance of fraternal twins if it runs in your family but identicals are purely a "fluke" and can happen to anyone.

As for your m/s symptoms, with DD I had bad m/s from 7 1/2 to 12 weeks and this time around only from 7 1/2 - 9 weeks so even that won't give you any idea.

Hopefully you can get a scan booked in shortly and you will find out if you are having 1 or 2 more. Good luck.

Does anyone know if it is twins am i still able to have them at a birthing centre, or is it too high risk? Because i had DD at Blacktown birthing centre and it was such a wonderful experience.

Just wanted to pop in and say that my HCG levels at like 6 weeks were 38,000! We were convinced it was twins, went for the scan, and nope, just one. We've had 3 scans and she's been spot on her dates, so I guess she's just a strong bubba!

Usually with twins you will be in a consultant unit, not a birthing unit. You would be considered high risk but it needn't be a medical birth if you don't consent.

Im with PumpkinZulu on this one, a scan is the only way to tell. My HGC at 6 weeks was 73 000, so you really just cant tell. I threw up from 6 weeks to 37. Good luck with the scan in March and hope all are happy and healthy. Cant wait to hear

I'm with PZ on this one too.

I'm only baking one bubba this time and had bad MS right from the word dot until 18wks, but my HCG levels were only 29 at 15dpo, and a little over 7400 or something low like that at 6-7wks.
By rights she shouldn't have stayed sticky - and I had quite a few bleeds early on too - but she's still there and due in less than 5wks.

FXed you see a nice healthy bubba (or 2!) at your scan next month!
