If it has soft serve in it I would avoid it. I just made my own smoothies and milkshakes at home.
I keep seeing the advert for the chic mint krusher at KfC are these safe to have while pg? I know about soft serve and stuff but not sure about these can anyone help? Thanks

To be honest... I think the only reason they say soft serve is not recommended is because of the risk of food poisoning... Now seriously how likely do you think that is lol? If you listen to everything they tell you not to eat you will be literally eating crackers and cheese (oh, maybe not the cheese lol). I say just enjoy your pregnancy and eat what you want to eat! Obviously, with using your common sense for the more dangerous foods hehe. I ate everything I wanted to eat when I was pregnant and enjoyed every minute of it! So I say go for it

I had one last night![]()
They have fruit ones that are dairy free and pretty good too.
Anything is moderation is fine. Im sure your body will tell you if its off when you start drinking it. I personally cant stand them.. but thats me lol I cant handle the drink with bits in it.. my mouth gets all confused with what to do! That being said... I have eaten loads of things on the "do no eat" list. Just about being sensible. You know, dont get one from a KFC that looks dirty etc.
Enjoy![]()
Personally I probably wouldn't. I think what you need to do is weigh up the risk. If you do that, and are prepared to accept potential negative consequences of your choice, then go for it!
The risk isn't food poisoning, it is listeria. You would not "taste" listeria in food. As it is very difficult to actually sterilize the machines that dispense the shakes, even though they may have been cleaned, there is a high risk of listeria bacteria accumulating within the tubes of the machine.
It's not made of soft serve

I wouldn't & I so desperately want to try the choc mint ones.
It's not the actual soft serve that is the concern, but the cleanliness of the pipes it goes through in the machine. My concern would be that the crushers is made in a similar type machine so there is milk going through pipes as well & the risk of listeria is increased if the pipes are not immaculately cleaned. You also have the concern of not knowing how long the milk has been sitting in the dispenser & it's kept at the right temperature at all times.
They're more frappe than shake - I'm pretty sure they don't contain any soft serve, they're just milk and blended ice (and therefore, are gross, I have sensitive teeth and can't stand all those chunks of ice in my mouth)Go for it!
I've had a couple (the different flavours) and I was fine, with the exception of that whole KFC is like a hooker psychological thing - good idea at the time but after you just feel dirty.
But I've also had sushi, soft cheese, deli meats, and basically everything else they tell you not to have with the exception of raw seafood - and I haven't had a single problem. Not even so much as bad gas. Nothing. And the babies? Coming along swimmingly.
I think it comes down to knowing what your body can take, and knowing what risks you're willing to take. I ate all those things regularly pre-pregnancy, so I know they don't affect me, and most importantly I know where to get good quality stuff. My GP levelled with me way back when I was about 6 weeks and she said: 'Just don't eat anything out of your normal routine, and don't eat anything strange you haven't tried before. If you stop eating all the things they tell you not to eat, you'll starve.'
So, if you just ask whats in it, and its all stuff you've had before, I'd try one. If you don't feel completely fine physically after, don't have it again, and let OB know. Simple.
Listeria is what causes a really bad type of food poisoning. I think if the machines were dirty and that much of a risk to cause such serious problems they wouldn't be so widely available and everyone would have serious health problems which would have had to be looked into, so people relax! Hahahope you enjoy!
And I totally agree with the poster above - well said!

I don't know why people think Listeria isn't a risk in pregnancy??
It is rare but it is risky. Only heat destroys listeria.
I have to agree emc2, it is rare but still risky.
The thing with listeriosis is that it doesn't usually affect adults too much more than giving them a few few like symptoms, so you could've very well had it without knowing. Plus you could have listeriosis and feel ok, but have disasterous affects on the baby.
Yep never did I say its not risky! A risk every Mum should evaluate at their discretion. My point was if we were to avoid EVERYTHING that *could* pose a listeria risk, you'd never eat out in that case iykwim.

I ate out a quite a bit.
In fact it's not something I could usually afford to do but I went out a bit more than usual. The meals were better as I kept ordering vegetables instead of salad, I think I had some of the best steamed vegies and hot side dishes I'd ever had, rather than salad.
