Back from OB... the good and not so good... but keeping positive!

Back from OB appointment with some mixed news...

    Good first

OB was so excited she couldn't believe that:
    A) The bleeding had stopped
    B) The rest of the bleeding and clots had broken down and been reabsorbed
    C) That my cervix was longer

She couldn't wait to get the US happening so she could have a look for herself Flicker was playing around and being particularly cute as well

BT results were back and everything looks normal or as per my pregnancy with N, still waiting on the final results for the DS etc, delays with the Lab but should get a call tomorrow about them.

    Not so good...
Adding to the list of complications now.....

Platelets were down to 149 from 176, scary thing is they are exactly the same level at the same time during my pregnancy with N!!! I wanted to make a bet as to what is going to happen, we both laughed and I said at least I am consistent. Two weeks before delivering N they were 112. So I am going to be on four weekly BT's for my platelets. But if they stay above 100 we won't be too concerned.

She is a concerned with the positioning of the placenta, as it is right over the septum, it is not the best placement for it, as the blood flow etc to that area is lower, generally if bub implants on septum it leads to M/C, Flicker and Fireflys sacs were implanted on septum and uterine wall). She she said that we may expect some growth restriction, so I will be having growth scans, which will be done with the cervical scans and increase if there are concerns.

We are leaving the next scan of my cervix until the 20 weeks scan at present, unless I have bleeding, cramping or lose pieces of plug - immediate call to my OB. I am happy with that especially after the cramping after the last one. Then again at 23/24 weeks, 28 weeks and so on. I don't think I will have trouble passing the Medicare safety net this year I am glad that my OB can do the cervical lengths and the growth scans in her office so it will be done as a part of my appointments, just all other scans will be done at the high risk clinic, which is more expensive that the normal places I have been to .

I am on four weekly appointments for the next 3, then two weekly for 2 and then weekly from 30 weeks. But should anything change with all of the above the appointments will increase.

So I am looking at it as all good news or things that we will deal with, monitor and test, and I know I have the best person looking after me and she will highly likely be at the delivery as it is highly unlikely we will make it to October, which I am ok with, as much as I wanted to get to term, I can deal with the reality of another prem, my family and support network will also understand a lot better and we will be more prepared for it.

As I look at where we have come from over the past 5 weeks it is a miracle that we are in the position that we are now, and I know the Flicker is a stayer, we will be keeping him/her safe in my tummy for as long as possible and deal with the complications as they arise.

Keeping positive, as I know that I can now face what lies ahead

So for now I will leave you all in peace and stop boring you with my pregnancy and hopefully no more scares or news until bub is delivery safe and sound in a 5 months time

Wow what an awesome OB to give you all that information!! Seriously - most OB's give you NO information, just tell you if its ok or not ok.

I'm glad its all looking well sweet.
