    I shouldn't read into this ... should I?

I was going over my scan that I had done yesterday. Im 32 weeks & it was a growth scan.

At 13 weeks the ultrasound was pretty much spot on for the dates I had worked out. I said the 4/11, It said 3/11

at 18 weeks the scan said 28th of Oct, putting me a week ahead. BUT I requested my dates not be changed & kept at the 4th of Nov.

Now yesterday, the sonographer didn't say anything about it, but I have noticed that the measurements have put me as 34 weeks, EDD 18th Oct.

Now thats a big difference to the 4th of November!

I am actually measuring 3cm behind which I always do. But I can't get this 34 week thing out of me head! Should I be thinking I should be prepared in case things happen around the 18th or is more likely that I just have a bub who may be big.

Each bub has gotten bigger for me, not by much but still (7lb8, 8lb3, 8lb4) measurements putting me 2 weeks ahead seems a lot to me!

eta - also, I know they say the ultrasound weights etc can be out by alot, each time I have been told the size of the baby they were pretty spot on.

Fiona - does the report say exactly 34 weeks?? I type ultrasound reports and the dr i work for always says eg "34 weeks +/- 1 week". Sometimes, depending on the stage of gestation (the later it is the less easy it is to "predict") he says +/- at least 2 weeks.
unfortunately, as they say, because every baby is different it is hard to give a precise date and thats why they always say EDD.
the sonographer will usually do a work sheet and sometimes the head circumference will be at 32 weeks and the abdo circ at 34 weeks and teh femur length at 36 weeks (tall bubby that one!) and they just average it out to come up with the 34 weeks.
Anyway - if you are concerned - chat to your doctor and ask him/her all about it and i am sure they will put your mind at rest.

    yep just says 34w+4d
the measurements say Abdo circ 35w
HC & Femur both 32 weeks
then there was another one that im not sure what it is, I think the initials were PD something, I will check in a sec, 37 weeks.
So yeah I am thinking the 34 weeks is an average for those dates but wow

eta BPD- biparietal diameter that one (what is that? ) was 37

I had 8 scans during my pregnancy and the dates were all over the place. I gave birth closest to the very first date that was on the one at around 7 weeks. That was 3rd July. I calculated 1st July & gave birth 23rd June.

The further along you get FJ, the less accurate the estimated dates become.
i wouldn't worry yourself with any dates from your 18 week scan, they are not as accurate as either your period dates or an early scan.

You will notice on the images, different measurements that give different dates, for eg, LOF- length of femur will give one date. BPD- biparietal diameter will give another. A series of these measurements are taken and then an average due date is calculated. But you might have a baby with long legs, or a bigger head and this will change the estimated due date.

Like you say- i wouldn't read anything into it! How exciting, getting close!
