Good morning all,
I woke at 6:30 am to a bit of a trickle and thought that my pelvic floor had given way and that all-wee had broken loose!! But no, this wee appears to be pink, and continuing to trickle.... eeeekk!!
I've lost about 3 cups of fluid, so not the big gush many describe. I'm guessing this means that it's just a section of the waters and not the lot?? No contractions to speak of beyond some really, really mild tightenings in my lower abdomen which are barely perceptible.
After all my reading and research and preparation, suddenly I feel ignorant and frightened and under-prepared. I'm only 35 weeks, 2 days and I'm not ready for this to all start happening so soon. I had nesting plans dammit! And what's more, I'm scared that my baby girl isn't fully ready yet either, although she appears to be making a bid for an early exit nonetheless.
So what do I do? If I call the hospital, will they get me to come in do you think? What's the process if bubba is prem? (I know it differs between hospitals, but I'd love to know what others have experienced)
I'm afraid that these slightly altered circumstances (being early) mean that both myself and my baby will be subject to more intervention and I have been working hard towards a spontaneous, natural, active birth which ends with baby WITH me and not in special care... am I going to miss this now?
Sorry, freaking out. My head is a mass of lists and questions. My bags aren't packed, the house is a mess, the clothes I want to wear in labor and in the hospital are dirty in the laundry basket... totally secondary stuff, I know, but I want to feel ready!
I don't have any advice on prem babies (my babies were both late ), but I just wanted to tell you to call your hospital right now. They will want to see you, they can check whether or not it is amniotic fluid, whether it is just your hind waters or not and that your bub is OK.
Good luck, I hope your bub decides to stay on the inside a little bit longer yet .
I'd definitely be calling the hospital to inquire and I would think they would want you to come in to check things out. Even if it is nothing, better to be safe and make sure.
It's really important to phone the hospital and they will definitely want you to come in.
It sounds like it's amniotic fluid and it doesn't always gush!
At 35 +2 days yes your baby is a lttle early but not so early that it will cause problems. She will very likely breathe on her own and she will stay in SCU for a night or so until they are happy she is doing all the right things. Some babies born around this time will be a bit jaundiced and need some phototherapy.
Unless there is aother reason - just being born at 35 weeks will not necessarily nean you will require intervention.
Pop those clothes in the machine and then the dryer and you will be on your way to the hospy in an hour! Pack your bag and enjoy this great adventure into motherhood!
Thanks ladies. Called the hospital and am going in now. Just hope they'll let me come home again to see if I can go into labor spontaneously. Still feeling a bit disorganised and stunned but I figure that's bound to happen.
good luck , we are all here for you xx
try not to stress or it will make things worse ...
heres hoping your little girl arrives safe and well , no matter what day she chooses xxxx
