Question Losing mucus plug in peices.. TMI and im very confused!!

I've now had my third show.. they have all been the same, big chunks of green and white, slimy and taken a few wipes to get rid of..

I've heard having multiple shows is normal but how many do you usually have and is it really a sign labour is not far away?

Straight after having it thats when i started having period like pains..

I had one only, and it wasn't very much or big or anything.

But that was 37 weeks I think, and led to nothing

It varies from person to person. Losing the plug itself, whilst a sign that labour might not be far away, is not a cause for concern. Also there is so much discharge in late pregnancy it is easy for a small bit of plug to look much larger when mixed in with all the other gunk going on.

The best thing to do it relax and try to ignore any little niggles at this stage as there are likely to be lots and lots of them until you labour, which could be 5 weeks still. Of course if you notice less movement from bub, or your waters break prior to labour, then call the midwife and get checked out. But if all you are losing is a little plug then getting BH labour could still be a while off so enjoy the rest whilst you can

    Thanks.

I'm now having some more painful period like pains and feeling pressure down low. Bubba has been putting pressure on my pelvis the last couple of days so it could be just BH and her trying to engage i suppose..

All good signs that bub is getting ready and your uterus is toning up for the big event. Have a lie down or take 2 paracetamol and have a bath if you are very uncomfortable and you will most likely find the pains die off. If not then it's time to get very excited

I lost my plug only the day before DD1 was born, but even though I was a week past dates by then, my gp still warned me that labour could still be up to 2 weeks away.
Your pains may be pre labour. They can last weeks. I had 20 hours prelabour with DD2, a friend had 4 weeks prelabour with her DD.
Take it easy & get some rest

i agree with the warm bath and some panadol and a nana nap. if it aint the real deal then the warm bath and nap will stop the BH and give you a break and not wear you out for the real deal Big Event. if it is the Big Event, then nothing will stop it, but a nice warm bath is a nice way to begin the journey

    goodluck!
