    Lunch ideas and eating out...

    Ok ladies,
    I know you will have some great ideas on this.

    With my dd I essentially lived on cheese and tomato or tuna, cheese and tomato sandwiches/toasted sandwiches/toasted or baked beans and I'm after some simple lunch ideas without breaking those "DON'T eat that" rules..

    I eat canned tuna about twice a week in different forms but otherwise it's been and was very bland and after some great lunch ideas this time round. I need to bare in mind I had GD with my DD so I'm at a good chance of getting it again during 2nd trimester.

    Another good scenario was today I went to the shops with family and we all had lunch in the food court. All I could really get was hot chips... Any other tips/recommendations???

    Sorry, I'm not much help. After following all the rules with DS1 I ate everything with DS2. Normally I would have smoked salmon sushi!

    In a food court anything cooked is a better option. You could try noodles or pasta.

    In food courts, I try to find things that are cooked on the spot - Asian places sometimes have a menu you can order off where they cook it in front of you.

    Otherwise I'd go for the fresher options - things in bain marees that turn over frequently like fried rice, pasta... I know what sells well at my locals and you probably do too??

    As for lunch at home - can you get some wraps? Mountain bread? Nice alternative to normal bread. You could try hummus and grater carrot inside a wrap. Or boil some eggs and do a fresh egg mix, yum.

    I used to make frittatas sometimes too - egg, tomato, some sort of meat, seasoning - it is being cooked so I figured ham/salami were ok.

    food courts i tend to be like PPs - make sure i choose something freshly cooked or that has a high turnover. sometimes i save my 'junk' allowance for those times (i have GD this PG & did last too).

    at home - soup is great (although not really at the moment but when it gets cooler), pita bread pizzas, salad sandwiches - or a salad made with fresh chicken, small portions of pasta or rice mixed with chicken and/or vegies, i often try & save some leftovers from dinner the previous night - if it has been refrigerated immediately, eaten within 24 hours & heated till piping hot then it should be fine. i find the leftovers break up the monotony of sandwiches. i made vegetable & cheese pikelets for DS & i yesterday. they were yummy & filling & didn't impact on my BSL much (they didn't have much flour in them).
