Hi Dan,

sorry you are having a rough time.

I have HG (still at 36 weeks) and have found that the vomiting gets worse as the dehydration sets in. I have found plain water doesn't stay down well so I'm drinking lots of weak cordial. At the moment I eat a lot of jelly as well as trying to drink a lot, but its so frustrating to try and try to stay hydrated and keep none of it down! IV rehydration and drugs made things feel a lot better. Also I have found my GP can give me a maxalon shot and that can be helpful when I'm not keeping oral drugs down so that can help prevent needing the IV.

At the moment I am on a mixture of meds - maxalon, zofran and phenergan which we started after several days IV rehydration. I have also been on stemetil and a corticosteroid (I think dexmethasone?) at other times - its been a real trial and error process and none of the drugs have stopped it completely but I have been better on the current drug regime, although the zofran is terribly expensive. Also with the maxalon and phenergan, I am unable to drive which is a real problem, and would have made life impossible if I hadn't already given up work due to the morning sickness.

Good luck and hopefully you'll feel lots better soon.

Sophie
