    Hi Jay Jay,

I'm fairly new to this forum too and I've found it a bounty of information and peace of mind.

I had a similar bleeding episode when I was at 13 weeks with our second daughter Charlotte. I had been cleaning all day and chasing after a hands on everything crawling baby and when I was sitting down with DH watching tv I felt an enormous draining feeling and I ran to the toilet. Blood gushed into the loo and my pants were drenched too and when I wiped myself there was a long thick clot which I collected. My husband rushed me to the hospital where I waited in the emergency department anxiously for a doctor to see me. Eventually, I saw a Dr and upon examination of both the clot and my cervix, he claimed that I had m/c'd and told me to come back in the morning to make arrangements for a d&c. When I turned up the next morning fully expecting to be 'cleaned out', the lovely midwives sent me to the ultrasound room where I had both the external scan and an internal one. Baby was alive and kicking and my cervix was closed. I was never given a full explanation of what happened. I had spotting for about a week and a half which of course I was very concerned about, just like yourself. Subsequent visits to Dr's two weeks later showed everything was okay. I now have a healthy active 20 month old girl.

I thought that by letting you know what happened to me and that there was a happy outcome that it may give you some peace of mind. Best of luck for tomorrow Jay Jay.

JayJay - I just thought i'd mention that a gf of mine had bleeding very similar to yours.. It was happening quite frequently though and lots of blood, but baby was fine. It ended up being - to my understanding - her placenta was over her cervix and was causing the blood loss. She was in and out of hospital due to copious amounts of blood loss, however she went on to have her son, via c section and earlier than usual because apparently the blood loss in the end was dangerous to her and the baby. But in the end she had a perfect little boy I hope you find an answer at your MW appointment. Goodluck and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Smile massive blood loss at 13 weeks pregnant

[COLOR="Lime"Morning all............I'm a bit nervous this morning - as you know I'm going to see mw at 12:50 today, and I'm so shaken by it - don't know what she's gonna tell me.
Up to yesterday when she phoned me, my swab results or urine sample results were still not back from the hospital.....anyway she said if they weren't back by today then she's gonna phone them and chase up those results.
Will let you know what happens, thanks

    Question

Been to midwife yesterday and she could not get baba's heartbeat, but there was a sort of whoosing sound - and she said that was the 'afterbirth' ..........would the afterbirth still whoosh if baba was dead though?

I bought two different pregnancy tests on the way home, a clearblue digital one and also a clearblue non-digital one........the digital one had 'pregnant' in the widow in about half a minute, and the other one had a very, very strong positive line as well -as one would expect at almost 15 weeks pregnant.

I thought that was proof enough that baba was ok, but have been told by quite a few people that pregnancy hormone can remain in mother's urine for up to two weeks after she loses a child, so we are none the wiser really. Actually I had sort of 'guessed' that, but was in denial iyswim.

Midwife has arranged for me to go into gynae ward tomorrow to see what they can do, so the worry goes on. And as if to add insult to injury, the clots remain.

Sorry for rambling on. Hope all is well with you lot, take care, and huge thanks.

Are you getting an ultrasound done soon? It's the only way to tell if everything is OK.

Jay Jay my thoughts are with you... big hugs to you and your significant other. Hopefully there has just been an error and that the baby was in a weird position... and tomorrow when you go to the ward they will say all is okay just like me with Charlotte.

According to midwife, the gynae ward staff will attempt to find baba's heartbeat again tomorrrow, and will probably scan me if need be.
So nerve wrecking, not knowing is probably the worst thing of all.
    So fingers crossed, eh.

SATYA, I don't know if they will scan me tomorrow....even if there's a problem it normally takes a few days before you can be scanned as scan dept is so busy.
It's a bit annoying really, and of course causes uneccesary worry.
Trouble is the scan dept at our local hosp. not only deals with pregnant women, they also cater for the entire hospital, and also out patients.
So you can imagine why its so difficult to get in there.
Thanks so much for your concern. take care...........xx
