    Moisturisers

I know you can't prevent stretch marks if you're definately going to get them but I'm going to try my best!! lol. So I would think moisturising is the obvious thing. My skin has been so dry lately. At the moment I have the Vaseline Intensive Care dry skin moisturiser and it has vitamins A, E, and elastin.

I would think that just moisturising regularly and something with elastin is good, is there anything that the specific moisturisers to prevent stretch marks have that this doesn't?? i used to have the Palmers one but it was pretty crappy!! Felt all greasy, didn't absorb well, and didn't last long, once it was washed off in the shower I was back to being all scaly again!!!! So are they just a rip off and I'm better sticking with the good old vaseline one?? Tell me it's true!!

I use bio oil in the bath it actually fades and prevents stretch marks you can use it all through pregnancy and just rub it into your tummy aswell...

A girl I know she used Happy Event and she has not 1 mark on her body and gave birth 6 months ago she is tiny as and was huge pregnant and now she looks like she hasn't had a bub!

Hi SJ. I used Bio Oil through my first pregnancy and didnt get a single stretch mark. I'm also prone to stretch marks too as I got a few over my hips during adolescence. I was a bit dubious about the Bio Oil thinking nothing would stop them but I think it did. Even my Obstetrician commented a few times about the condition of my tummy skin in late pregnancy.

I used it twice a day on my tummy, sides and boobs and I also used a loofah and body wash on my tummy in the shower twice a day to get some blood flow to my tummy skin. It seemed to have worked a treat.

I also used it on my existing stretch marks on my hips and they have definitely faded.

Needless to say, I'm already lathering myself in it now already with this pregnancy as they recommend using it before you start showing to prepare your skin for the stretching.

Righto, I'm out to get some bio-oil I think!! I think I will get some stretch marks too. My mum didn't get any but I think I got some on my BBs (they're not red and never were just kind of like you can see my skin has stretched, like lines in my skin, I can't explain, lol).

Oh Im a Bio-Oil girl too and was religious with it plus a bit of Palmer cocoa butter mixed together over my belly with Isabelle and didn't get one stretchmark. This pregnancy I haven't been quite so religious with it and I have quite a few so I don't doubt it does help keep the skin a bit more elastic than if you don't use anything.

SJ - I know the stretch marks you're talking about because they are the ones I have on the outside of my hips. They are like pale silver lines?? I thought I would get them through pregnancy too because of these but I didnt so it isnt all bad news for you. Just keep using the Bio Oil and all should be OK.

SJ, definately the bio oil. I have had a tummy tuck after having elephant skin and massive stretchies from my 3 previous pg's, so am prone to them and I don't have a single mark yet from this pg and I am having her this Thursday. Just praying that I don't wake up over the next couple of days with any LOL..

I'm a Happy Event girl. My mum used it for all 3 of her pregnancies, never got a stretch mark. I'm now on my second pregnancy and at 31 weeks all looking good and I have used Happy Event religiously since about 3 months with both pregnancies. Only costs about $5.50 for a tube.

I am prone to stretchmarks - got old ones on my hips from weight gain as a teenager, so I swear by this stuff. I hate cocoa butter for what it's worth, I think it's overrated. Never tried Bio Oil.
