    Multi Vitamin Recommendations?!

Hi all. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of pgcy vits that aren't HORSE tablets!? When I am pg, I have problems swallowing large tablets. The most I can handle (and even these I gag and vomit on occasionally) are the m/s tablets. When I fell with Kat, I tried blackmores pgcy vitamins, but they are simply TOO big for me to swallow and I'd throw them back up. Does anyone know of smaller ones? I feel in need of vits and the Iron/folate I am taking upset my IBS BIG time. I think I'd be better simply taking multis (after having the probs when having Kat, I started just taking iron/folate, but I don't think I can keep sitting on the loo all day everyday sorry tmi....). I don't care if I have to take two or three a day. AS long as they are smaller and I can swallow them without gagging them back up! HELP!

    Hi katkins

those horse pills are a pain the the butt hey!! I was taking the blackmores pregnancy vitamins but then changed to Elevit and found that if I cut them in half they were a lot easier to swallow. You could probably cut them even smaller if you needed too cause its like a solid tablet, not like the liquid ones.

    Hope you find something soon

    Hey katkins,
Several suggestions - I take mine with breakfast. I just chew my cereal and when I am ready to swallow I pop a tablet in. That way I can swallow it down with my food, otherwise I can't get them down with just liquid! I gag and almost throw up.

Also - once I accidentally bit one and it didn't taste like anything. I thought it would taste gross, but it had no flavour. Therefore if you are really desperate, take it with food (which they recommend anyway) and just chew it a bit.

Otherwise I don't know of any smaller ones, even in normal multivitamin form they are either really big or those dry crusty ones that get stuck halfway down.

    Good luck!

Hi there, i take mine(elivit) with milk and i find that the milk lubs your throat and makes it a bit more slippery, or you could try crushing them and mixing them with a bit of honey or jam or a bit of Oj, i dont think it matters what it is like when you swollow it as long as it goes down.
    Good luck

I just can't handle the horse capsules. I could handle cutting a tablet that size in half. So might go Elevit. Thanks girls! You are such life savers! I would hate for this bub to miss out on some vitamin simpluy cause mum can't swallow horse tablets when pregnant and because the iron/folate mum got REALLy play hell with her IBS. I want the best for my bub (as we all do). Thank you!

    Hi,

I have taken Elevit throughout my 1st Pg and this pg and have had a dream run!I found that by taking mine just before, or with breakfast, they were easy to digest and I didn't suffer from any side effects.
If you find them to big to digest in one go, I would suggest cutting it in half and digesting it while you eat.

Maybe have a chat with your OB to see what they reccomend - after talking with me, mine reccomended Elevit, and I have had two wonderful pg's as a result!

    Good luck
