    Unhappy Never ending cold!

    Hey all!

I am 23 weeks pregnant and i have a had a never ending cold for about 6 weeks now. Its not always bad, generally just a runny nose and no energy. But the past few nights i have got no sleep from a runny nose, I have tried, Vicks, vaporiser, garlic tablets and vitamin C. What else is there? Its nearly 30 degrees and i have to stay all rugged up just so see if that helps..

Im getting frustrated and have so much to do but no energy to do it.

Can anyone help with any other ideas?

Can i take Panadol cold and flu tablets??

    Muchly appriciated!

Hi MsJames. I have no real advice, but I just wanted to let you know that I know how you feel. I think I'm in week 4 now. The first 2 weeks were the worst for me, I feel like utter crap, but now it's just a bit of a cough and the runny nose / blocked sinus area. I got some cough medicine which helped a bit with the cough, and even seemed to dry up my nose a bit, but whenever I went to the Doctor's (it just didn't seem right to have a cold for so long) I was told that the only medication I could take was Panadol and certain Cough Medicine's. It sucks, but we just have to put up with it unfortunately.

Try going to your chemist and telling them what's happening and see what they suggest.

Try some Manuka Honey....you can get it from a health foood shop.....it has some fantastic anti-bacterial qualities in it and it is safe to use during pregnancy...teaspoon of that 2-3 times a day should help things along...also eat some kiwi fruit, as this has a high concentration of Vit.C....if I ever get a cold I always eat Kiwi fruit and it reduces the duration and severity of it.

Best of luck and I hope you feel better soon

It's funny that you mention that - my mouth also decided that it would be great to cover itself in ulcers, especially on the roof of my mouth, and I had some few kiwi fruit one night, because I really really wanted some, and it cleared the ulcers up to almost gone by the next day.
