    non-dorky baby shower games

My sister is 19w pregnant and I have started to think about her baby shower. She said she didn't want any baby shower games but I thought if I could come up a list of the less dorky ones she might like to have a few games. ie guess weight/DOB of baby etc

    Any ideas?

My favourite game at mine was an adults only game, but it was an absolute blast - it was called 'Labour or Porn?' and we each had a sheet with about 15 pics of women's faces, and we had to guess if it was (obviously) labour or sex... some were stills from movies, some were from Utube labours, and apparently my very brave friend googled some porn on her home computer. Each pic was edited to just the facial expression. It was hilarious, and a real icebreaker, even between women of different generations. I admit, it's not a game for everyone, though!

We also played that game where you have someone famous' name on your forehead, and you have to guess who you are by asking others questions about yourself. I was Octomum.

Mine was a lovely mix of games and blessingway - guests were asked to prepare a few words, a blessing, a wish, an anecdote of mothering, a piece of prose or a poem, etc, and share it with the group, as I opened each person's present. It was lovely. Where people had written their poem or whatever they wanted to share, it was given to me and compiled into a little scrap book.

I also went to one recently, and 2 guests were invited to compete against the mum for how many bits of baby clothing they can peg to a folding washing line in 30 seconds with a 'baby' (ie, large teddy bear) under their arm.

You could fill a baby bottle with lollies and get people to guess how many in there and the winner gets the bottle ...wrap the string around there bellys and guess her belly size....fill babies nappies with different items...vegimite..brown baby food..mustard and get them to guess whats in the nappies

my sister didnt want any baby games at her shower, so instead she had felt pens on a table and disposable nappies and the guests all wrote something on a nappy, some wrote dad this is the front, others wrote a sweet saying etc and my sister used the nappies once baby was born.

on the other table she had paint brushes and small wooded alphabet letters, the babys name was in large letters. the aunts and grandmas got to paint the large letters and the guests painted a smaller letter each, my sister is putting them on canvas to hang in the baby room.

    hope that helps

my sister had some little cards & a nice jar on the snack/presents table and guests were invited to write 1 thing that they'd wished someone had told them before having a baby, or just some advice/top tip etc. the suggestions were read out when opening presents. kind of a nice, not too dorky idea.

We asked everyone to bring a baby photo of them self and put it in a box as they arrived. When everyone was there I stuck them on a board and everyone had to guess who was who. It was actually really funny!!
We also had some cards there for people to write 'tips and advice' for mum to be. At the end they were all stuck in a scrap book and it was beautiful.
And baby charades. Make up cards with things people have to draw. Have a white board. Each person scores a point if they guess it first. We had anything from pram, dummy, pregnant, labour, sperm, sex, blanket, twins, ultrasound etc. that got alot of laughs!

My niece had the best game, in my opinion, at her baby shower. Someone had made up a list of all the things that could be found in a handbag. The items were scored with more common items having a low score and the more obscure items having the higher scores. The items were read out 1 at a time by the Mum-to-be and the scores tallied. Some of the most random items were things like, a diary from the previous year or a tub of playdoh and sure enough at least 1 person had even these items in their handbag. It was a lot of fun and it was amazing to see the things that girls had in their bags! At the end of the game the highest score won a giant block of chocolate of something like that.

I wish I had thought of labor/porn at my baby showers. I will have to do that for one of my girlfriends.

Baby bottles hung upside down from a clothes line and filled with milk - a race to see who can drink it first... No hands!

    Bobbing for dummies

Pin the dummy on the baby (a spin off of pin the tale on the donkey)

A "time trial" to see who can dress a baby doll the quickest. Can h e it set up and people can do it whenever they're ready throughout the party.

Obstacle course set up with toys etc and have to navigate with pram.
