I saw my Ob today, my due date is tomorrow. I've been hoping for a VBAC (even at attempt at VBAC would be a win!) but at my appointment today, the baby was in the oblique position. The Ob explained his concern that if I go into labour while the baby is in this position, then there iis a bit of a risk of the cord coming out before the baby etc etc. He said my VBAC chances are getting slimmer the longer that I go but was happy to wait and see me later in the week. I suggested next week but he wasn't comfortable with that. He said that there is still time, the baby could move again and it could all go my way BUT realistically my chances are getting smaller because the baby is getting bigger every day. He was really nice to me, even when I was crying (how embarrassing.)
So my question is - is there anyone who has been in this position? Had a baby lying in the Oblique position at term and still gone into labour and had a natural birth?
I was transverse not long ago (bubs lying across) and I went on the spinning babies website and did the recommended exercises and bubs is in the right position now.
Check at the spinning babies website- hopefully it helps you out...otherwise big big and that your get your VBAC
It's sort of between the transverse and head down position from what I can gather. I've been using the spinning babies website to try and get bub to engage and honestly doing all the right things.......fitball, lying on my left blah blah blah. I'm feeling a bit let down by my body.
I was going to suggest see if you could do some acrobatics (I couldn't remember the name of the site which suggested different ways of getting bubs to turn - thanks delphmoon)
I found going swimming and doing (gentle) handstands a very useful exercise. According to the website it stretches the uterus abit and encourages bubs to move rather than stay comfy in the current position (well that my understanding of the exercise anyway). I also go to the pool three times a week and spend as much time on my belly doing little running exercises...
