pain around belly button - normal or hernia?

Hi,

I have been having a stitch like pain around my belly button for the last three days, the pain kind of comes and goes but the top of my belly button is really tender to touch - is this just normal stretching or could it be a hernia?

I didn't have this with 1st pregnancy - with this pregnancy I find that there are more brief stich like cramps around lower abdomen (stretching type cramps), but the belly button stitch is really sore.

I had a very similar thing with my last pregnancy, a burning, pulling feeling. Thankfully I haven't got it this time.

I'd say it is just normal stretching as opposed to a hernia but worth checking next time your have an appointment.

I was really worried if it would be painful in labour but thankfully I didn't feel it at all.
