Hi Everyone,
Was wondering if anyone has experienced this? I've been feeling it on and off for the last couple of weeks, but today it has been particularly bad, especially when I get up from sitting at my desk. I am 22 weeks.
I was wondering if there was anything I can do to help it. I'm not seeing my ob for another 3 weeks, if the pains continue as they are, I dont think I'll be able to wait that long for some advice!
Hi Kellie! I have an unstable pelvis so I get this kind of pain frequently. I think it's called Pelvic Girdle Pain and is very common in pregnancy because of the hormone relaxin in our bodies. It could also be caused by pressure on your sciatic nerve. You should see your dr or physio about it. Last pregnancy I went to a physio about it and was given a pelvic support belt, but I found it made my back ache more!
To help the pain in the meantime, avoid movements that cause the pain (hard I know) and throughout the day move little and often. When walking arch your back, this locks your pelvis in a stable condition.
If it is sciatic pain (or hip pain), a chiropractor can correct this in one visit ......... my chiropractor is a miracle worker. He usually know what is wrong with me even before I open my mouth because of the way I'm walking or holding my shoulders etc.
Give a Chiropractor a try! They are worth their gold during pregnancy.
