OK i am not 100% sure and i doubt the hosp would say to get it done if there was any harm to be done but is it safe to have a PAP test during pregnancy?
I had an abnormal pap result before i fell PG with DD and was meant to go back yearly, but the time the next 1 came around i was PG and the Dr said not to worry but now both my Dr and the OB have advised i should have one done?
Sorry if there is already a thread about this am about to head out the door and wanted to get some answers before my Dr's appt Friday.
Can anyone advise of the pro's (if any) and con's?
I had one at 10 wks with DS1 - and all was ok - but I am not sure further down the track. I wouldnt think there would be any risk - but if your doctor agrees, I would put it off until your postnatal check just to be safe. But that's me
I tried to private message you regarding some nappies that you were selling, however was having trouble with the server. I hope you don't mind me posting after you but I don't know another way to do it. I was wondering if you had any nappies left that you were selling. My email is setof2@gmail.com if you would like to email me. I am interested in buying whatever you have.
Thanks everyone, will have a chat with my Dr and ask what she thinks, am not keen on the idea of bleeding as had 4 bleeds with DD during my pregnancy and i had never been so stressed or sick in my life.
Would prefer not to put undue stress on myself but if she thinks it's all good to do it then i guess, someone was saying during PG the cells change and sometimes it gives a FALSE reading for possible changes etc.
I was in the same position as you when I was preg, due for a 12 mobth follow up pap after a previous possible CIN 1. My OB told me we needed to wait until I was out of the first trimester cos he didn't want to cause any bleeding. Then when the time came we decided not to bother and wait until after the preg cos even if another abnormality did come back there is nothing that could be done until after I gave birth and it would only leave me worrying until the end of the preg. He assured me that there was no risk in waiting because the abnormalities take years to progress and also said that preg can give misleading results too. GL
Thanks everyone, went to the Dr's and she said she would LIKE me to have one but understands my concerns and has agreed to wait until after bubs is born.
She said as i had altered results last time she would like to know whats going on but as i am so far along says it's prob best to wait so as not to cause myself any stress if i do bleed or get abnormal results, she also agreed that pregnancy CAN give false results and doesn't want me worrying.
Thanks everyone for your advice, followed my instinct and NOT looking forward to my 6wk check-up now... lol
