Hi Seenabeena, basically there is no difference! Both just mean "before birth".

Pre-natal means before you are actually pregnant, and ante natal means whilst you are pregnant but before you have had the baby, I think?

    Seenabeena,
Youve prob heard of ante natal clinics - where you go throughout the duration of your pregnancy for checkups etc. This is what our hospital calls them anyway.

I think the definitions are as Lucy said.....

Before I fell PG, I went to the Doctor for a "pre-natal" check-up, but after I was PG, I was going to ante-natal classes.

    pre·na·tal
Existing or occurring before birth: prenatal medical care.
A descriptive term for the period between conception and birth.
    Preceding birth. Also called antenatal.

    an·te·na·tal
Occurring before birth; prenatal: antenatal diagnostic procedures.

Thanks Fee so that means that the both basically mean the same thing. Ocuring before birth.

So that means the receptionist at my Doc. surgery is just a rude b!tch! When I rang up to make an appointment the other day I said it was a p-renatal appointment and she was very rude and basically made out like I was an idiot who didn't know what I was talking about so I said okay maybe it's an antenatal app. Again more rudeness from her when she aggreed that antenatal was infact what I was booking in for  as if there was no such thing as prenatal
