I am having fun trying to predict the sex of our baby. When it comes to the 18 week scan, i don't think i actually want to know... but "boy" is it fun guessing (couldn't resist that pun). So anyway, i have been playing around with gender prediction quizzes and reading old wives tales... most of them "predict" i am having a boy. I am just curious.. those of you who do know the sex of your baby because you found out at the 18 week scan (or have had the baby already), were you showing signs prior of having a particular sex? and if so, did they prove to be accurate - here are some of the old wives tales:
Shape of Moms’ Belly
Some say if the woman’s belly is big and round it means that she is carrying a girl. Likewise, if her belly is smaller and sticking straight out than she is carrying a boy.
Direction of the Ring
Many people believe in the good old ring test as a way to tell what the sex of their baby is going to be. In this test you hang your wedding ring from a string over your belly. If the ring swings back and forth your baby is a girl. If it swings around in a circle then it is a boy.
Fast Heart Rate Tale
Some people believe that if your baby has a fast heart rate, near 170 beats per minute, then that means you are having a girl, and that if your baby’s heart rate is closer to 150 beats per minute then you are having a boy.
The Mayan Tale
If you are Mayan then you may follow their beliefs and use numbers to determine the sex of your baby. The Mayans take the mothers age at conception and the year of conception and add them together. If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl. If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!
Drain-O Test
Put a tablespoon of Drain-O in a cup and pee into it. If the mixture turns green you are having a girl. If it turns blue you are having a boy. Supposedly there is something in the moms’ urine that mixes with the Drain-O causing it to change color and determine the baby’s sex.
Acne Myth
Acne during pregnancy is caused by hormones, not the sex of your baby. However, many believe that if you have an increased amount of acne during pregnancy then it means you are having a baby girl.
Cravings
This one sounds good and can be an “explanation” for many of moms’ cravings, but is it true? Some people say that if you crave salty food while pregnant it means you are having a boy and if you crave sweet food while you are pregnant it means you are having a girl.
Weight Gain
Thankfully, this one doesn't refer to your weight gain. The belief is that, if your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn't put on a pound, then you're carrying a boy.
Eyes
Pull down the skin under your left eye and look at your eyeball (the white part). If you see a vein that looks like a V or branches, you will be having a girl.
Loving making
I heard that whoever is more aggressive at the time of conception, the child will be the opposite of that sex . . .

My belly was smaller and stuck right out front its why EVERYBODY told me i was having a boy! Fast Heart Rate Tale

DD's heartrate when she was active was 167bpm and her resting was 142bpm

I had them at the beginning then they left and a girl i went to school with her face exploded with them and she had a boy

I think this could be true, most my cravings were sweet ones.. Loving making

Though they say if you are more emotional in pregnancy you're having a girl and cranky/moody a boy which was true in my case and my SIL's she has 2 girls and 2 boys and i HATED her with boy her boths as she was a witch with a capital B!!

I say thats crap cos I've carried the same way in all my pregnancies and I've had a boy then 2 girls. I say its the way your body carries babies that determines the shap its going to be, not the babies gender.

I've heard it the opposite - if it swings back and forth its a boy (to represent a penis) and around in a circle is a girl (to represent a vagina). Mine was correct in all three pregnancies.

Both my girls were close to 150 - DD1 was around 154, DD2 was 149, and DS was around 140 something. My OB said its whether the baby is active at the time that determines the heartbeat, not the gender.

Haven't tried this one!! I just tried with DS and it was wrong.

I had bad acne with my pregnancies with the girls, but not the boy, so I sorta believe this one.

I craved twisties with DS and chocolate with the girls, so I'm leaning towards slightly truthful - for me anyway!

Nah, DH has always put on weight in all my pregnancies.

Never tried with my other pregnancies - and not going to try with this one cos I don't know what I'm having yet.. LOL

Bahahaha.. aggressive in love making? Can't remember the one time it took for each.. LOL
and what about the one that if you wear florals and flounces and girlie things in your pregnancy it's a girl,
if you wear stripes and block plain colours it's a boy.
i know it sounds nuts but has worked for me in predicting every single baby of my friends and even myself!
