Question about my cramps & tightenings

I'm just wondering if this is normal, or if my body is completely wacky. Since yesterday arvo I've been getting cramps - they're right down low and feel like af is coming. They're not very painful, and kind of come and go fairly gradually. Anyway, when I feel the cramps my uterus is usually soft.

Other times, I'll feel my uterus and it's hard as a rock, but I wouldn't know if my hands weren't on it, there's no other cramping or anything going with it.

So what's the deal with that?

I got this for alot of weeks, and was put on Nifedipine to stop them and had to report any that i got to the hospital. Not sure what it was with me, but seeings as how you're overdue it may be the start of labour. I was only 28 weeks when I started getting them.

Sorry I can't help, but good luck for the coming days!!

I would say it is pre-labour pains. GL

Oooo sounds like labour might not be far away. Maybe go for a walk and see if they get stronger. Good luck hun.

Thanks everyone I've been hoping it's pre-labour but thought the cramps and tightenings should happen at the same time?

We went for a walk and they actually stopped for a while after, lol. I swear my body does things backwards! They're coming back now though, hooray! Let's get going I say!

Sounds like it may be very soon for your little girl to arrive. I got these type of pains and 22.5 hours later DD2 arrived. It stayed very mild until about 1.5 hours before she was born and they never got any closer then 5 minutes apart really.
Is the cramping constant or can you feel it coming and going?
You know what, I hope you don't get to answer that question because your to busy laboring. Goodluck Kaytee.

I woke up with strange cramps like that the day of my induction. It felt like my bowel was a bit irritated and maybe i needed to go to the toilet, but it was at the front as well. It was really in a big band right the way around and down very low. But my belly wasnt hard.

When they went to break my waters i was 3cm stretching to 6cm. So i think i was actually in labour. DS was born an hour after they broke my waters and i never needed any other interventions to help the induction along, this is why i think i was in labour.

*stalking now*! best of luck. Try to get some rest when you can, so you aren't too tired in labour

Thanks again everyone It's not really something I could time if I wanted to, I don't really notice it coming till it's here, and each cramp seems to hang around for a while. I'm glad it's the weekend anyway, we're having a really relaxing day.

Now I'm just hoping it picks up into proper labour and my body's already working at it. Hopefully it's not too much longer then! Hooray, come on baby!

Ok, another silly question: how am I gonna know when to call the hospital? Should I call them now and let them know what's happening and see what they say? Seeing as it's a long weekend they apparently have less people on board than usual

Good luck Kaytee. I think I would wait till I had something regular to tell them about or if your waters break

    Sounds like pre-labour.

I was advised to let the hospital know when contractions were established and regular. I think i called when they were 5 min apart last time. So i'd probably wait and see what comes of it. Pre labour can last a few hours, days and even weeks?! Yikes! Although it won't be weeks for you. But there is no harm in a phone call if you are unsure.

    Good luck!

Yeah I reckon I'll leave it a while. This better not last for weeks though! I won't be entirely surprised if I'm still here this time tomorrow, but hoping not
