Am i Pregnant??

My last menstrual period started on July 1st '07. I took a home pregnancy test on Aug 8th ' 07 using digital clear blue home pregnancy kit and it clearly showed "Not Pregnant". Again i took a home pregnancy test on Aug 20th' 07 and it showed "Pregnant".
I scheduled an appointment with an ob/gyn for aug 22nd and she took my urine sample and confirmed the news that I am pregnant. She told me that I am 8 weeks pregnant n asked me to schedule an appointment for ultrasound. I had my ultrasound on aug 28th and the result was there was an empty sac/yolk . The doctor adviced me to get my blood work done to check my harmone levels which i am yet to do and then get my ultrasound done after 2 weeks to hear the foetus heart beat. As per the doctor if the harmone levels get doubled after 48hrs...it means it is normal pregnancy. My family friends say that they got their first ultrasound in the third month...they say it is too early to look for a baby in the eighth week. Till date i have not gone through any pain n bleeding. Im totally in a dilemma.

The only symptons of pregnancy that i see right now are missed period n slight pain in the breast. I dont feel nauseated at all.My harmone levels of first day ie-29th Aug are Progestrone--15.5 and HCG--6831

Any advice would really be appreciated

Hi at 8 weeks they shold see a baby in sac and a heart beat unless you rae not really 8 weeks and smamler but give they saw an empty sac it does not sound good. Could be a blighted oveum so basiclly your body thinks it is pregnnat and hormones dont quite double as they do for a true pregnancy but sac is empty. By redoing us in 2 weeks they will no for sure as either way they have given time for a baby to grow if earlier than you thought.

Thanks for your reply feeb.I appreciate it!! I had my harmones level tested and it did double. I have an ultrasound scheduled for this tuesday(Sep 11th). I am a little anxious to know if everything is fine with me.Any thoughts on this feeb??

Congratulations hun. To me it sure does sound like your pregnant.

I had some bleeding early in my pregnancy, around what should have been 6 weeks for me. I had my hcg levels checked and repeated and I also had a scan. The scan for me showed the foetal pole and that was it. Of course the worst was thought but the following week my bloods came back heaps hugher. I went for a follow up scan 2 weeks later and there was my little bubba.

So it is quite possible that you are a week or so out on your dates which is why you didn't actually see your precious baby.

i too didnt see my 2nd child at 7 weeks, only a sac. i also had the repeat scan and yep there was my little bean....

I had my ultrasound done the day before and had a little talk with my doc. She says that my last scan(aug 28th) showed an empty yolk sac and my 2nd scan showed baby with the heart beat but the heart beat is a bit low(it is 102 but 120 is normal itseems). She adviced me to come down to her office to check my uterus size and repeat the harmone test and ultrasound again in a week. She says if progestrone level is low she would prescribe some medication but she doesn't give that guarantee that if i take the medication everything would be fine. She says she has seen a few cases like this which showed low heart beat but the heartbeat picked up later. She is not sure which way I am going.

Im totally in a dilema...Im not sure how many weeks pregnant i am and also if a heartbeat of 102 is normal. Can i do something to improve my condition? Im a victim of sleep apnea.Does this effect my pregnancy? Im not sure if this is helpful but i found this info on my ultrasound report.

I too have sleep apnea. It doesn't have much effect on pgcy. Ur body compensates to ensure u and bub get enough O2. It does however mean u will be more tired than most ppl. But we learn to deal with that. I hope the HB picks up a bit and everything is ok honey
