Okay so I'm freaking out
Thursday evening I get told I look really pale and asked if I am feeling okay. Didn't feel too bad just really tired. Go to bed. Wake up at 1:30am in excrutiating pain (off the pain scale) and can't move for 2.5hours without making it worse (first freak out). Try pain killers and a hot shower but no relief. HINDSIGHT - should have gone to hospital then.
Friday I go to work but still in a lot of pain - 8/9 out of 10. Ring ob and leave a message. Ob rings back and asks me to go and see her immediately. Lower abdomen is very tender and peaks pain levels when pushed. Walking, sitting, anything really increases pain. Panadol and bedrest ordered, if gets worse go to hospital.
Saturday and Sunday I do nothing all day and pain settles to about 5/6 out of 10. Sunday evening pain goes back up to 8 so DP takes me to hospital. Being 25weeks+3days I am told to go straight to delivery suite (second freak out). Get checked out and tests done - 1:200 chance of labour in next week so that's good. Ob I seen there was great. MW however wasn't soo nice, as she told me I didn't look or act like i'm in pain (I have chronic back pain for 8years now so forgive me if I don't cringe all the time ). Sent home on panadeine forte and bedrest and to ring my ob Monday.
Monday I stayed in bed all day on pain relief and pain settles to 6.
Today I get in contact with my ob (her office was closed yesterday for other reasons) and she is thinking ligament and muscle strain (relief) but wants to send me for a scan to check that there wasn't a bleed behind the placenta which hasn't come out (third freak out) but she doesn't think it's likely just wants to cover all basis.
So... if there has been a bleed, what does it mean? I am just freaking at the moment and need some assurance that bub is going to be okay.
Bub's heartbeat on Sunday night was 140, my pulse was 60, BP 110/60
Sorry it's long, just needed to get it all off my chest
Thanks for reading x
Belle, Sorry I don't have any good advice but just wanted to give you a hug and hope for the best that your wiggly worm stays put for a few more weeks. Hopefully its just muscle strain.
Hi Belle,
I don't have any advice as i'm not a mummy yet, just wanted to send you my and
Try to stay calm, that probably sounds ridiculous considering the pain you're in and how concerned you are for your little one, but anxiety will only make you feel worse.
Your baby's heartrate was fine so that's really positive
When can you get in for the scan?
If your Ob can't do it today can you get reffered somewhere else to have it today?
Hope everything is ok!
Thinking of you and your little one
Oh Belle! I hope you are alright I dont have any idea about bleeds etc, but I hope you are ok. Just try not to stress, and keep up the rest. Hopefully all will be good and bub will come out when bub is meant to.
Thanks for the support
Went for ultrasound (my ob booked me in, faxed over the paperwork and had it all bulk-billed) and they were happy with what they seen... no evident bleeds, abruptions etc... Ob will be ringing me once she gets the results, which I'm anticipating will be tomorrow morning now, but at least I got to see bub again and that everything is still there where it should be
Maybe the rest of the week off work isn't such a bad idea
Enjoy and get a lot of rest during your week off, I am glad that your OB is monitoring you closely, I hope you results come back clear this morning and you can relax and enjoy a nice long pregnancy
Hell yeah woman - take the rest of the week off work!! And boo to that midwife - when you DO go into labour at 9 months if you see her coming make your DH insist on another one. Some people think you must be moaning and clutching to be in pain - well in my experience, the worse the pain, the quieter I get as I shut everything out, so I'll bet a LOT of people are the same, and she should know better. Hope that's it for the pain and yay that it wasn't an abruption.
bah the midwife can go jump. i agree with sarah, real pain thats at that level is too deep and intense to do much other than try not to do ANYTHING in case it make it worse and it makes you go into your own little world!!!
im glad everything looked ok in the scan! make sure u tell ur bub he/she's gotta keep cooking for 3 more months yet!! anything less is not acceptable
Well the ob rang me yesterday at 6pm to let me know that she was happy with the results of the scan and that there was no evidence of a placenta abruption or any bleeds at all. She is pretty happy that the major concerns have been ruled out, and to put it down to a really bad ligament and muscle strain. Good news for me I guess, so pain relief when needed and lots of rest.
The measurements from the scan show that bub is weighing in at about 2lb 2oz and most of the measurements are a week ahead... so looks like we could be having a healthy bub
Been in a bit of pain again today, with sharp pains shooting across my stomach, but they don't last too long and bub is still really active.
Work (who is also my best friend) has told me to take the rest of the week off and to check with the ob that I can go back to work before I do cos she doesn't want anything to happen to bub or me.
Sas - can I really request that she doesn't attend as my mw when I go into labour?? She was 'nice' but I think there are lot nicer ways to put things especially for a first time mum sent to delivery suites at 25weeks
Beema and Erica - I too am glad that my ob has been monitoring me soo closely as well, and that she was available for the hospital to contact her to while I was there. She is definately earning her keep
That's good news Belle, and that's a good sized baby from what my books say about weight at this age, woo hoo. Maybe see if you can get a referral to a physio or something if it is an ongoing muscle or ligament problem? Usually you can request another midwife - as long as it's not an emergency and no-one else is on duty of course in which case I don't think you'd care less - perhaps mention it at your next ante-natal appt and see what ob says hospital's policy is?
