Kate - Try using a needle on a piece of thread and just wait for the needle to completely stop first and then watch the movements like a magnet is guiding it. Check out this if I don't make sense YouTube - Gender Prediction Test (the ring test)

My sister has never been wrong... yet!!!

She does one either over the marital bed, or your tummy while pg. She needs the wedding ring, and cotton (for some reason it only works with cotton).

She'll ask if there is good spirits in the room, and the ring moves a certain way, if it doesn't move she can't do it... then asks which is yes and no then asks about the baby.,...

She got DD right, and said this was a girl before US said she was right!

Weird, but so far she hasn't been wrong with anyone!

I did it the other day at work and the lady who did it got it in a circle, so I'm assuming that means girl. We also did it when I was pregnant with DS and it showed him as a boy.. hmm.. interesting.... I don't want to read too much into it cos I would like a girl but also would be happy with a boy cos then I can have the three kids I want (DH would want to stop if I have a girl).. :-(

I forgot to mention the other day that I pull a piece of hair out of my head and tie it to the ring, then I lay the ring down on the folds of my wrist, then I lift the ring off my wrist so that it is about half a cm above. Usually it just dangles and quivers or gives a slight turn then it starts to give the reading for me it is always boy then two girls, sometimes it takes quite a while for it to finish.

I can't find any reason or explanation anywhere for why this happens and why it WORKS!
    Any help?
Is it magnetism or something? Power of the mind? Magic? Auras? Chi? Something I am missing?
When you watch the pendulum be it a ring or needle, it seriously moves like a magnet is pulling it, not the string swinging it to influence it....if that makes sense.

Its crazy hey??!! I remember that when I was pregnant with DD the ring went in circles and this pregnancy it's swinging side to side indicating a boy (and I have felt from the start that this may be a boy?? - will find out in two months!!). I tried the test on my palm with wedding ring and piece of string (does it matter if it is done on palm or wrist? - as on YouTube they do it on palm) and it was freaky!!!
I have done the test twice and both times the ring went in circles, paused, back and forth, paused, circles, paused, back and forth and stopped. So girl, boy, girl, boy. I tried it on my friend today and she has two daughters. It indicated girl, girl, girl, boy!! I want to try it on everyone now, it's amazing. I'm recording the results to look back on in the future and see whether the ring was accurate or not.

OK - i have done the ring test over my belly before, but now i am off to find some cotton to do it on my wrist. Does it stop inbetween babies or just change???
I didnt know you could do all babies that way.
    Wow.
Will be back in a bit!

I have done the ring test too. It swings in circles for a girl and back and forth for a boy. I can't remember what happens in between, whether it stops or just changes... Whenever I do a "reading" for people I ask to use their ring and a hair from their head, but I find that actually it works with just about any dangling object, e.g. I have even used a key on a chain once. It is mostly accurate, although one of the last readings I did was for a friend who had one DD. She told me before I started that she didn't think that she would have any more children, and sure enough her reading showed one girl and nothing else. I was most surprised to hear from her a few months later telling me that she was pregnant! I'm not sure if I had pulled the ring away too soon, believing her that she wouldn't have any more kids or what, but now she has a lovely DS too. So it's not always 100% reliable.

When I did the test, the ring first moved in circles then really slowed down until it just about stopped then started moving again to swing back and forth and so on. In the end it showed that I'll be supposedly having a girl, boy, girl, boy. It now has me thinking, I'm excited and worried.
I am only really planning to have 3 children as I think I may run out of time to have a fourth. Now I'm worried that I may miscarry or something with a future pregnancy, or I may go on to have four children (maybe even twins next?!) which would be wonderful. Silly ring, it makes us think too much! It is truly amazing how the ring moves and is a very interesting concept but I don't think that it would be really 100% reliable - after all it is a ring - how can we determine whether a ring can forsee our future??!!

I would always just take this as a fun thing to do while waiting for the 9mths to go by, It could cause more harm then good if we take it too seriously. The power of suggestion is a powerful thing, if we start believing in it too much then we might just make it happen.

When I was pregnant I tried it and it said I was having a girl, but I had a boy. My friend tried it and it said she was having a boy but she had a girl. I just tried it on my wrist now an it said a girl, then I stopped it and tried again and it said boy, then I stopped it and tried again and it said nothing. I tried it on my (empty) belly too and nothing. I find it quite interesting.

I tried it over my Dh's belly to see if it was just a magnetic thing but nothing happened at all. I'm going ot go get a longer string and try it on both of us and see what happens.

I can't get it to work on my or my partner's hands. It worked on my Mum's and sister's - well it got my Mum's kids right, my sister doesn't have any yet. It is starting to freak me out now. I know it's just superstition but it's wierd why it does nothing on my hand.

I saw this thread the other day so I checked out some more information on the internet... sounds very interesting!! Anyway I had a go with my wedding ring and a piece of string and did the wrist test. It was quite freaky how the ring moved, paused, moved paused and then moved and paused once more.

It came out as girl, girl, boy...

I had an early m/c last year so I'll have to wait and see if this comes true... hopefully it is a sign of babies on the way for me!
