I told people my due date and definitely won't be doing so next time! I got an April Fool's baby TreeTops but she was due March 22nd! It was a LONG 10 days getting texts and phonecalls and hospital checks and "are you STILL pregnant!?" from everyone i knew...BLAH! The last day wasn't so bad i guess, since i was in labour most of it
We didn't tell anyone we were labouring except our birth buddy Jen so she would come over. MIL kind of guessed but when she called (when about 20mins before DD was born) Jen answered the phone, pretended to be a midwife, and said there was nothing much happening
Next time i will be giving either the 42nd or 43rd week date to everyone except XP (who will be coming over to be with DD while i birth - homebirth with both of them there). I also won't tell anyone but him that i'm in labour (apart from DP of course!). I actually was very resistant to the idea of visitors before i had DD but once she was born i rather liked jolly wee gatherings when people came over to meet her and have a cuppa. If i got sick of them i just said i needed to feed her and asked them to come back another day. LOL. One's a lot more in control if one stays at home though.
