I posted a little while ago that i felt my clothes particularly my pants to be getting looser and i didn't think i was gaining any weight, well the other day just for fun i jumped on the scales at my local woolies and i weighed myself...... the scales read 87kgs since becoming pregnant i have lost 10kgs!! just to make sure the scales werent broken my friend who was with me knows how much she weighs and she jumped on and yep told her what she weighs to the exact kilo.
At first i was like WOOHOO go me, as i have not weighed that since i was 18. But then talking to my mum she said she lost weight during her pregnancy having my brother and at 30 weeks was told he wasnt gaining any weight and so she had to eat and eat and eat so that he did. He still came out quite small.
So far bubs has weighed what she is supposed to, a think maybe a little behind.
Some people think i am starving myself which is not true. I don't eat very much because most foods make me sick, and certain days foods that are normally fine make me sick. But then there are days where i am so hungry that i eat and eat.
I copped a fair bit of slack off a friend of mine, its not as i can help the fact that at 22 weeks im still getting morning sickness have days where all food makes me gag. I was quite offended by her comments.
But I wouldn't stress too much. I know several larger people who lost weight during pregnancy. So long as you are still eating (no matter now uninteresting the food is) you should be fine. Remember that your body will naturally give your baby everything that she needs, even if that means stealing it from your body - so make sure that you are getting enough iron and calcium etc.
I am guessing that you will probably have a midwife appointment soon - mention it to them if you havne't checked with anyone else before then.
I think if you're really worried, you should take a pregnancy specific vitamin (I took Elevit) so you at least know Bub is definitely getting all he/she needs. And just make sure you get enough calcium too.
i didnt put on any weight during my pregnancy , well i know this as i put on 10kg thats what the scales said when i went into labour but 3 days later i weighed myself at kmart lol and i was back to pre pregnancy weight i had lost that 10kg so it was water weight and baby etc i did hold a lof of fluid
anyway i was like u ,sick all the time gagging at food vomiting , i had the worst diet when i was pregnant but i could not help it , i did what i could
dont let ppl get to u with there awful comments i got them as well it hurt me
i think that because you have some to lose then its "ok".. your body will make sure your baby gets everything it needs first. and then any discrepancies it would take from your "stores"
have a chat to your doctor..
and dont forget what may happen to your mum is unlikely to happen to you
I am 20 weeks pregnant and I am a very tiny person, my original weight was 55 kg to start with (I am only just over 5 foot) then morning sickness kicked in and it was bad just like yours by the sound of it darl, I feel so bad for you, its horrible, anyway I ended up losing between 8 and 9 kg so i was 46-47kg and I still havnt put all the weight on. People are giving me a hard time to but if you think bub is doing ok and you can eat and drink when you feel the need to just go with the flow. I went and saw my ob about the weight loss and they werent too worried so its just what happens to some people. Stay strong big big hugs.
Babytalk i imagine your doctors would be watching your weight a bit more closely?? being a lightweight( ) to start with.. where as 1sttime has some spare.
Baby will be getting all that it needs from you and you are the one that is suffering by losing the weight. Your Caregivers would have shown concern if they thought it was a problem by now.
I have a friend who was 20kg LIGHTER when she gave birth than when she fell pregnant as she had severe sickness all the way though - her baby was a bouncing 7lb 8oz!!
Unless your Drs or midwives are concerned then I'd just eat what you can and go with it. And ignore all of the people who give you a hard time - at the end of the day, when it comes to being pregnant EVERYONE has an opinion on something!!
I had a bit to spare as well and I lost 7kg in the first trimester and then a bit more afterwards in my first pregnancy. DD1 was 4.04kg or 8lbs 14oz. She came at 42 + 3 weeks, so I don't think that you need to worry about the weight loss. Sometimes our metabolisms speed up during pregnancy and that is good for us to keep healthy and cope with the last weeks of pregnancy when we get big and uncomfortable. Eat healthy and good quantities and no matter of weight loss you are going well!
