I was so glad to read this post because i completely relate to it!
I've just reached 27 weeks and have been convinced i must be having a really tiny baby because everyone i see (including complete strangers where i work) tells me how small i am for this far along! I mentioned this to my midwife at my appointment last week and her response was "tell them all to bugger off"! lol I could have hugged her. My belly is measuring the right size and she said that it is just that i am tall (5'7) and of an average build (62kg before pregnancy), and being my first the skin and muscles are much firmer.
She also said that if you line up a whole lot of pregnant women, you could never pick how far along they are. There will be some that she sees that are really big and when she goes to feel the belly it is all just excess weight.
So hopefully you can now be like me- relieved and celebrating the fact that we are lucky enough to be 'all baby' and not carrying excess weight that we will have to lose later.
