    Unhappy small for date?

    Hi all,
Just went for my 16 week antenatal checkup and had my height, weight, fundus checked etc. Before my pregnancy I was 62 kg, Was ill with morning sickness up until 14 weeks and now weigh 59kg. Midwife says this is ok bcause I was ill and couldn't keep it down, but I am worried bcause she measured my fundus and she said it should be as many cm's as I am weeks (eg 16 centremitres) and I am only 13 cm's. Should I be worried? I've never been a big eater and still abit nauseus, but I can't force myself to eat huge amounts...what should I do??

I have never known fundus height to measured before 20 weeks for one thing. And its not an exact telling of how big bub is anyway. Its only an estimate and can differ depending on your height, baby's position, how much amnitoic fluid there is etc. So i wouldn't worry about it at all.

I to had very bad morning sickness and I lost 4 kgs in the first 3 months and over all I have only put on about 7-10 kgs and my bub us doing great! As for fundus height I have heard that its not that accurate and can vary- I have measured diff size at diff stages as well - and even on scans I have varied from being 2 weeks under and 2 weeks over in sizes.
Try not to worry - I know its easier said than done!

My fundal height was never measured till after 20 weeks, even then it isn't that accurate, with my last pregnancy I was measuring behind by a couple of centimetres each time and my baby weighed a healthy 3.9kg at birth! I wouldn't worry about it at this stage and relax and enjoy your pregnancy
