Question Spa & Beauty treatments during pregnancy. What is safe?

I have been given a voucher to our local Beauty salon that expires very shortly, but was wondering is there were certain things I should avoid during pregnancy?

    The voucher includes: Manicure/pedicure
    Massage
    Eyebrow wax
    Eyelash tint

Can anyone one tell me if these are all safe during pregnancy? I know deep tissue massage is a definate no no, so will check with them on that, but anything else?

    Hi there,

I would say the mani/pedi & wax would be fine.

With the massage - you would need to ensure they know what they are doing in terms of massaging a pg woman. Eg: there are certain points on the foot that can cause m/c.

The tint I am unsure of & hopefully a beautician will pop in & let you know.

They are all totally fine during pregnancy. Massage YUMMMMM I had loads of them! They would need to be doing some pretty firm 'pressure' points to effect your pregnancy hon and it'd be a shame to miss out on how delicious one would be especially seeing your body is probably really sore! When you book in you could just request a therapist who is qualified to do pregnancy massage

    Wax fine
Mani /pedi is fine but avoid pressure point int he foot related to pregnancy
no massage for the reasons a) you have to lie down and not safe for baby on tummy and also pressure points

they should have you lay on your side for a massage unless they have the special preggy lady fat belly massage table. But if it's a beauty place they probably will just do relaxation massage and not lymphatic drains, bowen, pressure points etc etc as those are more remedial and sports massage disciplines... so it should feel nice but probably won't do much if you have a sore back iykwim. You may wnat to check what products they plan to use as well.
