Suspected Eptopic - I need some advice

Hi girls, so I am 5 weeks and 2 days and last night I had slight bleeding (bit of mucus and light red). After I wiped it stopped. This morning there was no trace of any blood what so ever.
Later in the morning at work I went to to the toilet and wiped and had a fair bit of bright red blood, like last night I wiped it and it pretty much stopped 10 minutes later. There was no clots, just red blood. (enough to cover a tissue) Sorry for all the in depth explanations. But not enough that I thought I had M/C

So after this I booked an appointment with my doctor and got another blood test to check my HCG and Blood Type. (waiting on results) I also got a referral for U/S

I went for the U/S and they could not see anything in the uterus. They said that my left tube was swollen and had fluid (not sure if they meant blood)
They said that they expected early signs of an eptopic. Biut could not say 100% cause they were not even sure they could see a defiente sac/baby in the tube.

I have had cramping since I ovulated but have not had pain in any one side.

It is too early for them too see anything at 5 weeks? Could they be wrong. They honestly cant tell me if it is an eptopic or not..
The receptionist at my fertility doctors said that she believed that it may be too early to see anything at all yet.

Has anyone had this same situation? and have they been wrong??

I have another appointment with my specialist tomorrow. Im just worried that I may take there word for it and if I waited another week it may have been too early and everything is ok?

Im so worried and have been a total mess today.

    Any advice at all

sweetie- It's unsusal though, with some women it might just be too early thouhg like with my first scan - nothing but a baked bean.

i think it really depends on the person plus you might be ealier thatn you though which means they might see something next week.
Do you drink enough water before the scan??
i feel your pain, with my son at 5 weeks the ultrasound sounds showed a sack in the uterus butno heartbeat. they found one at 8 weeks.

with this pregnancy i has a scan at 5 weeks and they found a heartbeat already.

    will be thinking of you.

I'm so sorry you are going through such a stressful time at the moment . I hope you get some clearer answers today. I have my fingers crossed that it is still too early to see anything via u/s.

I had a similar situation in January of last year. **It didn't end positively so don't read any further if you don't want to.** I was around 6 weeks pg when I started to bleed. I had an u/s and they couldn't find anything in my uterus, but they found a small mass in one of my tubes. I went to emergency and was assessed, but they decided to check my hCG levels for a few days before doing anything because the mass was so small. Thankfully I miscarried naturally without any further intervention, but it was a very scary time because no one could say for sure what was happening and I felt like I was left in limbo. I fell pg again the next month and went on to have my beautiful DS2.

I really hope everything works out for you .

It left us in limbo and we decided to head home, i had slight bleeding when i got home and it was very scary, but i'm 21 weeks now and all is well. try and stay strong and positive. Hugs to you

I also had the bleeding, had u/s and they seen nothing and said I had miscarried. Although my hcg kept rising so they then said I had an ectopic. So went for abother u/s, was about a wk later and I had a healthy sac and bub with heartbeat, was then about 6wks. So would have been about 5wks when they could see nothing. Now my little man is 17mths!! I hope you get some answers soon xx

Hi girls, so I thought I would give you the update. I seem to still be bleeding. Weird thing is I bleed once a day. Once I wipe and clean it up it stops, but it happens once a day. Very confused about this?? the blood is never enough to be suspected as a M/C.
I went to see the specialist yesterday, I had a HCG test on the 22nd and it was 178, I had a blood test on the 27th and it was 715.
The specialist said that he wants to wait until Monday the 2nd so I can have another U/S and blood work as he is not convinced that the mass is the baby in the tube (eptopic). That it could be a cyst or a number of other things. He has said the likeness of it being eptopic or a complication is quite high but not to rule out that everything may be ok.
He also said that until your HCG levels are over 1500 it is not likely to see anything on the U/S, so hopefully by monday my levels continue to go up (this will be the indication that there is an issue or not)
Im still having pain and the bleeding so I am still very worried.
I also asked him if I am taking any risks by waiting until monday and he said that if the baby is in the tube there will be damage anyway. He also said that if I feel extreme pain to go straight to hospital.

Any insight on this? I would love to hear what you girls think?

Thanks so much, I have to wait until Monday before I will find out anything. Its killing me. I would just rather no and be able to deal with the outcome. I just pray that on Monday the U/S shows something in the Uterus and the mass on/in my tube is a cyst

    I can only pray!

Thanks girls for all your support

I hope all goes well .

    Hi Alana,
I had an ectopic in my tube back in April of this yr, which was not suspected nor diagnosed when nothing was found in my uterus - I was simply told that I had miscarried. The pain associated with ectopic pregnancy is excruciating, and much worse than normal period pain so if you find the pain unbearable go to the ER straight away. Take heart in the fact that you are being monitored by the Drs - I would think that they are waiting simply to make sure that if there is a viable pregnancy in there that they don't do anything to jeopardise it. As for the waiting, I am sorry you have to go through it - sometimes that's the hardest part. I have my for you. But please monitor your level of pain, and go straight to the hospital if you feel that it becomes unbearable. I am thinking of you xo

i feel for you...the waiting is awful! It's so hard being in limbo.

I hope that your HCG levels rise more and then you can see something in your uterus on the ultrasound. also if your hcg levels are rising at the rate they should, that's a good sign it's not ectopic...with ectopic they usually are lower than normal and rise slowly, or erratically (ie they can drop slightly, then go back up). sometimes i have heard 5 weeks is too early to see much.

I dont know thay my own experience will help you...but
i had an ectopic earlier this year. In my case they could see a sac in my uterus and thought I had had a missed miscarriage...I was sent in for a curette. after the curette though I stil had extreme pain, especially on one side (which I had had for some weeks), and my hcg levels were still high, and they then said they thought it was ectopic...my hcg levels went up and down and never went above about 900

I hope things turn out well for you

Thanks again for all your support. So my appointment yesterday didnt go so well, my BETA levels had only gone from 715 to 1480 (in 5 days) so when in the waiting room I new the out come already
I had the scan and my doctor was not able to find anything in the uterus and was able to confirm that I had an eptopic. Now I am faced with the meth injection or surgery.
Im leaning towards just getting the surgery as it is 100% and it will be gone and dealt with and then I can just move on. The injection is not 100% and may not work and then I may have to have surgery anyway, If it does work I then have to deal with having a M/C. I cant deal anymore emotional crap. Im so heartbroken that I cannot function, Im so extremly sad.

Thanks so much for all your support, so I guess I will be leaving this board, but hopefully may see this forum again soon

I wish you all the best with all your pending pregancies

I'm so sorry about how it's turned out. Please make sure you get some help from the ladies in the m/c & loss area. You will need lots of support over the next little while to get over your loss & those that have been there are the best to help you through it.

Alana, I am sorry that you are going through this emotional rollercoaster. As I previously mentioned, I had an ectopic back in April, and this time round bub made his/her way through to my uterus - so dnt stress thinking that just because you have had one ectopic you wont be able to have a normal pregnancy. Look after yourself, I'll keep an eye out for you when you get your next BFP!
