    Sweating continuously?? Help!

    Hi ladies,
I need some advice because I am at my wits end. I didn't put this in my trimester forum because I have had this problem the entire way through my pregnancy (I am 27 weeks), but it is getting to the point of pure frustration and embarrassment!
I have noticed I am sweating sooooo much more now since I have been pregnant, I don't know if it is one of those weird and wonderful things that happen with pregnancy, or it may simply be a result of the extra flab around my underarm area (and the rest of my body) - end of the day it doesn't matter, it's getting really embarrassing. When I say I am sweating, I do not notice it in any other part of my body other than my underarms. And not just tiny little bits that no one can barely see, I'm talking huge wet circles that are so big they almost meet at the back (well not quite but still, they're huge!). Every single day, no matter what type of top I wear, no matter what temperature it is, no matter what I do, I have these MASSIVE sweat circles around my arms - IT'S SO EMBARRASSING!!! I have tried 6 deodorants now, each one saying something along the lines of "24 hour dryness"... and yet huge, gigantic, massive sweat circles everyday.
I was wondering whether anyone else may have experienced this problem? Even while not pregnant? More to the point, I was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions of what to do about it? Are there any fantastic deodorants out there that people would recommend??? I am willing to try ANYTHING!!
    Please help.....

Sweating can be associated with lower oestrogen levels, so some women do find that they suffer from night-sweats or more than usual sweating during pg and bfing. There isn't much you can do about it I don't think, but it wouldn't hurt to talk to a health professional to rule out other causes, and see if there is anything that can be done. I hope you can find something to help!

in my opinion mitchum is very good. i use the roll on, let it dry before getting dressed and i find it works really well. i used to be conscious of sweating but i found it has helped me.
although i'm not preggers, so not sure what effect this will have on me! HTH

I would suggest getting all your hormone levels checked. Thyroid problems can also cause a lot of sweating. It does sound excessive so I would be getting checked. In the meantime - Wet wipes and 2 hourly deodorant!!

I've been feeling the heat more since getting pregnant but I mainly sweat on my face and scalp. It IS very embarrassing and it makes me feel uncomfortable, especially as no one else around me is sweating.
I don't have a solution, just wanted to offer some sympathy.
I remember an old comedy skit where someone suggested sewing odour eaters into the armpits of their favourite frock... to stop things "getting too woofy".

Ooo.. I didn't think anything would be wrong, I just assumed it was one of those weird and "wonderful" things.. I have an appointment with the midwives next week, I'll mention it then.
Just another question then, if it is a hormone or thyroid thing, is there something they can do to treat that during pregnancy? Would it be affecting anything else other than my underarms? Would it have any affect on the baby?

    Thanks again.

:yeahthat: I sweat alot regardless of the weather too, I tend to just wear tank tops and light T's even in winter because of it.
I found mitchum sport to be the only deodorant that worked. I too used the roll on.

In relation to the cause I have no idea, but maybe give mitchum a go as an intermediate solution. It is very good stuff.

hi hun, feel your pain, i suffer from hyperhydrosis and have hunted high and low for a deodorant that slows it down, without going down the botox or surgery path.
i normaly use a product called driclor, but have stopped since being pregnant and am now using mitchum roll on deodorant, doesnt do as good a job but does help. i couldnt find anything that said i couldnt use driclor while pregnant but i figured the aluminium levels in it may not be healthy for bub

I agree with Alioops. Get some tests done....I had the same problem from about 30 weeks on and just put it down to being PG but it didn't go away after DS arrived so I went to the Dr's and had some tests done and I had a over-active thyriod!! It was good in one way cause I lost all my baby weight in 2 months after and then a extra 5 kg's but in the same token I was losing hair like no tomorrow!!

Won''t hurt to get some tests done darl....might not be your thyroid might be something else but better to be safer then sorry!!

I actually did get my thyroid tested last week, it came back fine. I don't know what hormones the doctor checked, but everything he did check came back normal (I had the glucose test so they just threw all these other tests into it). So must just be "lucky" I guess. Want to know a weird thing though, it happens SOOOOO much worse on my right hand side. I am left handed, so my left arm is being used more, but my right arm sweats soooo much more. The doctor didn't seem too concerned though (maybe he was just grossed out).
Looks like I am just doomed to be embarrassed for the next 12 weeks.
I have bought and tried some mitchum, it helps a little but still getting obvious circles that can't be missed. I have just recently purchased it so am still trying different "tactics"... we'll see how it goes. I hope it does away after the pregnancy!
