Oh wow....i dont know how true it is....my DH never had any of it!
Poor guy...hope it stops when his 'bub' arrives![]()
Hi all, So as you can proberbly guess from the title, my DH seams to be getting morning sickness. Well, thats how it saems to me anyway.
On Monday morning he gave me a really worried look then made a mad dash for the loo, to have quite a bad spew (sorry TMI) Anyway, I told him he should stay home and go see the doc cause he had absolutely no colour in his face and sweating profusely. He just said, No, I'm usually right in an hour or 2.What?? He said this had been going on for about the last month / month and a half (about since mine stopped) and usually about the same time every day but doesn't last long and then he's right again for the rest of the day. He was running late on monday so I hadn't known before now. DS then piped up and said yeah, we usually stop on the motorway so he can have a hack.
He's had to leave a little bit later each morning since and yep, sick every morning then ok again.
So, Is it even possible to have sympathy sickness? I honestly thought it was just one of those old wives tales. I know this is his 1st baby and wants to be involved but Geeze, this is going a bit far isn't it??
This morning I took in some dry crackers/bikkies and a cup of tea for him, (he's always had a cup of tea in the morning) but he took 1 look at the tea and B-lined it for the loo! Says just the thought of having a cup of tea makes him sick lately.
What do I do? I feel so bad for him!

My DP says that sympathy sickness is a sign of true love!
He didn't get morning sickness but he's sure got the pregnancy brain.
'an old family friend of ours swears he got sympathy sickness for his wife's' pregnancies. In fact that's how she found out she was pregnant with one of her 3 kids - hubby started barfing! lol.
they absolutely swear that he got sick for all 3 kids but the mum didn't.
so maybe there is something to it!
but i would send him to the docs all the same as it might be something with his digestive system, waking up empty or something like that.
poor bloke.
Sorry, but I couldn't help it. Poor bugger. Though to have a man actually experience it is a huge bonus for women!!
I'd send him off to the gp too, JIC.
Does sound very sweet though, like he really really cares![]()
Weird! Yeah, I think I'd sent him off to the Dr too incase. It's not something that he's eating or anything is it?
-Hey, cool Ticker pic!
Thanks for all your replies guys!
DH took the afternoon off and came home after picking DS up from school so I took the opportunity and dragged him off to the doc.
Doctor had a pretty good giggleand pretty much said the same things as all you ladies have said. He said he can do some tests but really thinks it's morning sickness. Apparently it's quite commen! He can take some tablets for it but is better off just doing the normal morning sickness remedies like ginger cookies and non milky tea before he gets up.. what ever works for him!

Anyway, turns out thats not the only pregnancy symptom he's been getting! Headaches, swollen/aching feet & Occaisional stomach tightenings too, but not every day, maybe 2 or 3 times a week, quite uncomfortable but doc said how he explained it, it sounded like BH! Poor bugga!
DH said he didn't want to say anything cause he thought I had enough to worry about with how sick & in pain I have been.![]()
Doctor also said the same thing as your DH GoingtobebiginAsia, about a sign of love, DH just said "I feel really guilty that it's my fault seeing my wife going through all this!"
Dr cracked a funny and commented maybe we will go into labour at the same time! but DH proberbly wont loose his belly!! GEE THANKS!![]()
My DH had worse morning sickness than I did. Even before we found out I was pg, he had morning sickness. And a really bad back. (Pregnancy rocked, DH had all the bad symptoms!)
My Dad had loads of weird cravings too... but then again, he thinks horlicks powder that's been exposed to moisture so is now in hard lumps is good food when I'm not pg, so I don't think that was anything to do with it.
my Dh gets alot of the same symptoms as i do, he doesnt neccasarily spew though just feels sick around the same time as i did.. this has been the case with both my pregnancys.
i fiqured he used to just tell me he had the same symptoms for some sympthy but on numerous occasions i would mention to someone other then DH that i had sore back or felt sick. he would walk in from outside and say the same thing.
just recently he was overseas for work and without telling him that my carpel tunnel had been getting worse, he comes home and tells me that while hes been away his hands are really sore and he would wake up at night numb with pins and needles.......just like i had been,
it seems strange but i have to many occasions where he is experiencing the same thing as me with out tellling him.
so yes i believe they can experience our symptoms.
Your poor hubby...but kind of funny too! At least he can sympathise with you about how your feeling. Most men can't!
I know I shouldn't, but I had a giggle too, reading these posts. For the ladies, do you feel like he's stealing your thunder a bit, if your DH gets all the symptoms? Just, that when men get sick, it's usually a full on drama...
What about with labour? I've heard of men having labour pains. Wouldn't that make them less than helpful during birth?
OP - your poor DH. He must really love youhe certainly sounds like a real sweetie. btw - I found nibbling on protein bars helped with ms. Maybe get some for your hubby.
I must admit I've had a bit of a giggle about it now too, Now that I've had time to think about it, it is kinda funny!
Atleast I now know the real reason why he's been fussing over me so much! Cause the poor b@$t@rd knows how it feels!
Lucky he is not the only one coming in the labour room with me JIC, Both our mothers and DS aswell as him!
God I hope he doesn't experience labour pains too, or this baby might just end up being my last one!
The funny thing is, he really isn't that affectionate or loving! Well, he is loving in his own way! Like recently, he proudly presented me with a bright pink clutch for my car!that's his way of being loving.. or my really big expensive tool box he actually got resprayed pink! I hardly ever even use tools anymore but brought me home this REALLY big shiney new spanner! JIC I ever wanted to remove my rear tyre on my bike! Well, he got in trouble for that 1 cause I thought he ment my bum as my rear tyre!
Now, if only he would actually fit the clutch to my car.... now THAT WOULD be lovely!!!
