    Tell me about 3d scans.

Did you have one? Roughly how much are they to have done? Was it worth the money you paid? Can you only get them done in particular places?

    Did I have one? Yes

How much? They vary from place to place/state to state: here, it'll cost around $200 for the nuchal, $195 for the morp (20 week scan) and $110 for a 3d scan on its own.

Where: not all places have 3d scans available. A lot of bulk billing places don't the have the latest technology so can't offer it.

Did you have one? Yes at 32 weeks when pregnant with Anelise
Roughly how much are they to have done? Mine cost $150. There is nothing back from Medicare for the one I had as it was a non diagnostic scan (meaning not done for medical purposes)
Was it worth the money you paid? Every single cent! We're constantly amazed at how much the pics of Anelise look like her IRL.
Can you only get them done in particular places? Not all ultrasound places have the equipment to do the 3d scans... perhaps google and see if anywhere near you does them... or call your local US place

Did you have one? Yes at 26 weeks as my research told my that was the best time
Roughly how much are they to have done? $80 & no rebate as it was just a look see. It was a while ago now so I think it would be more.
Was it worth the money you paid? Absolutely. Although it nearly wasn't. DS wasn't co-operating at first. They could only get rather dodgy pics as he wasn't in the right position. After jiggling a bit it got even worse! They weren't having a busy day that day so they re scheduled for later & then DS was much better behaved. They told us that we got some of the best shots that they'd got in months.
Can you only get them done in particular places? Yes. You can check online for QDI but I'm not sure about other places.

The sonographers at my 12wk, 20wk and 34wk all turned the 3D/4D scan thing on for me at the end of each Ultrasound so I didnt have to pay anything extra. If you go into my FB there are some photos. At the 20wk one, youcan see the entire baby but at the 34wk one the baby has all the fat layed down and looks not so alien like.

Did you have one? Yes at 28 weeks (window is 24-28 weeks for bubba to have enough fat on it's frame to be able to get images, but still small enough to move around as the images rely on movement)
Roughly how much are they to have done? $200 & no rebate - we got several prints, DVD of the whole session - and about 45 minutes with the guy
Was it worth the money you paid? most definitely - I am amazed at how awesome the pics were and how much detail we got to see (and how much she was like her pics from the scan - we said at scan she was particularly like 2 family members - and she really is!)
Can you only get them done in particular places? Yes. you have to check who does them and how much they charge/what is included. make sure you go to a reputable place (usually a diagnostic sonographer with this as a "side" business - have heard some horror stories about people paying big bucks for people to do a scan, they wait on pics to be printed - and never get them)
