Yesterday I had an u/s just to see bub, so for the fun of it really. We couldn't get a good pic of bub as the cord is right in front of her face. Now this part bothers me. I'm worried that with the cord being so close to her face, that it could be quite easy for the cord to wrap around her neck.
I know, I'm probably worried over nothing, but I can't stop thinking about it. As soon as the sonographer mentioned it, I kind of went into panic mode (silently). Of course the sonographer didn't say anything out of norm, just said 'oh bummer we can't get a good pic of her face as the cord is in the way'.
So, am I completely paranoid for absolutely no reason? Is there an increased chance of the cord possibly wrapping around her neck during pregnancy and/or labour being so close to her face?
I am sure there is nothing to worry about, if i were you i would just pop in for another u/s at about 35 or so weeks and check again then, it could already of moved away by now!!!! Goodluck !!!!!!
In an earlier scan I was told they move all around the cord and the sonographer wasn't at all worried. At that stage I pictured it like a skipping rope for my little one , but as Lovemykids said, if you are worried later on talk to your care provider, or get another scan.
There is nothing to worry about. The cord is floating in the fluid and moves all the time. I would be willing to bet that within a few minutes of your US the cord had moved.
FYI about 20% of babies are born with the cord around the neck. Sometimes it wrapped around more than once. In most cases this is not a problem but just occasionally we need to do a couple of things to help.
