I thought I was huge very early the first 2 times, but when I look at photos from 12 weeks there is hardly any bump noticable even in my tight tops. I think you always feel bigger than you look to other people. I was big early this last time (noone said anything at the time but a number of people said they had known for ages after I announced it at 12 weeks), but then by half way I was normal size for 20ish weeks. You may find you don't get much bigger than you are for quite a while.
Early on it is just bloating... gotta love hormones!! Your uterus will start to move up early in the second trimester and you will get a proper preggo belly. In the meantime try not to worry about how your belly compares to anyone else's. Your body will do what it is supposed to do when you are pregnant and there isn't much that you can do about it.

My body explodes with pregnancy. Last time people could tell I was pregnant from about 6 weeks, not cos I had a belly but because my hips spread and my boobs blew up. I had to buy maternity pants at 13 weeks cos there was no way I could fit into anything.

This time around I'm 7 weeks and the same thing has happened. I'm still wearing my jeans but they are pretty tight. I think I might have another week or two in them before they're too tight.

Everyone is different. I do think if you are more petite in your stature you're more likely to show sooner, there's simply less room. I have a friend who is 6.5ft tall (or similar) and even at 35 weeks she just looks like she's eaten a big bowl of pasta. From memory last time round she didn't even had to buy any maternity clothes, she was able to make do with what she had.

Anyway, my point is everyone is different. Our bodies deal with these things in their own way.
