I apologise right now Ten, because I know you'll be reading this and thinking to yourself: He should have learnt proper Spelling and Grammar off me by now!
not often I log in and post which sort of makes the gravity of the situation sink in a bit more I think.
So today, from when my friend commented on her status and woke her up (phone notification) she was feeling what she thought were Brackston Hicks contractions, no big deal.
She goes about her day and at about 1:30 ish while having a shower she gets a really bad pain in her tummy. She send a message to myself and her mum saying "DON'T STRESS - I've been having pains in my tummy..."
I get home and start going about my list of menial tasks to do having not gotten the message in the first place... Ask her if she's ok and she informs me (again). Me being the worry wart I am start freaking out! and decided to call the hospital to find out what we should do.
They told us to come in and get a check up so they could be more certain... I was off in a flash, a quick change of clothes and I bolt into her parents to tell them what's going on... Then the back streets we usually take for work because peek hour traffic sucks!
We go through emergency and after a short visit in a side room (where we just sat down for about 5 mins tops) we were escorted up to the LABOUR WARD (which got both of us a little defensive and excited at the same time! One of the Midwives attaches the CTG to her and I try to work out what's happening on the screen as there were two graphs being plotted... (One obviously the Baby's Heart Rate and one turned out to be tracking any changes in her uterus)
After an hour of that the Doctor gets around to us and tells her what they have to do to check if its a prem Labour and if so the steps they'll need to take after that.
They do they're checking and ten minutes later the test result come back negative for prem Labour and that's pretty much that. "However... we think it would be best, going that this is happening and with the result you had last pregnancy, that we keep you overnight for a closer check" *both of us gulp*
So they escort us up and into a room in the antenatal ward and that's where my precious people are right now
hugs to you both, they're both in good hands, and i'm sure they'll be fine - just bubba keeping you guys on your toes!
Hope the cookie keeps baking xoxo
Big squishy It is terrifying to be in this situation. The positives are everything is looking ok and they are watching her and bubba. Just to be safe. But it is still terrifying
Oh Scott! What a day you have had. Teni is in the best place for her right now so they can stop the labour if it starts. We are all here for you and Teni. Hope you can get some rest tonight.
Thanks for updating us Scott. You must be so worried. She's in the right place, though I bet she's scared stiff. Hoping it's just BH.
Sending strength to Teni. Stay in Cookie.
Scott, if you guys have been doing the hypnobabies course, you might find it useful to download the Baby Stay in track for Teni to listen to on her ipod.
Oh Gosh - I had my heart in my mouth all the time I was reading. The good things are that she's being watched closely & there is no sign of labour. I am so sorry you've had this shock - it's terrifying for you both.
You are a beautiful man to let us all know - please send my love & squishy hugs to both of "your people"... Cuddles to you too Scott.
